Whatever you do dont pop popcorn like this tye oil gets through all the holes and once it gets hot you wont be able to take the collander off to use a lid cause the popcorn flies everywhere
Thank God it wasnt kettle corn

You are doomed from being greedy with flat pan. Colander or lid doesn't matter.
>>
>>22149284
what if you put it in the oven
>>
>>22149319
Doesn't work.

Get a large metal bowl, clamp a camp handle into it, put ghee in the bottom, cover the bowl with foil, tightly crimped onto the lip and around the end of the handle to hold its place and cook over the flame.
This way it's cooked directly in its own serving bowl, it's not as hefty and unwieldy as a pot and the oil isn't skeetzing everywhere. Alternately, use the microwave/paper bag trick. Just put kernels in the bag fold it tightly shut or use a heat-safe fastener and nuke for 2-3 minutes until the popping slows to one every two seconds. Dump into the bowl and spray with butter flavoured spray. Ironically, nonstick spray helps salt and seasonings stick to popcorn.
t. Guy who eats a metric fucktonne of home popped popcorn

holy shit this is genieus
do use any oil in there or nah?
>>

No butter or oil. It will seep through the paper. That's another reason why you spray it after: to add fat.
Also, my wife bought me an oil sprayer I still haven't used so maybe I can spray the popcorn with chili oil or spice oil or something with it, idk.

To be clear, you don't want to use that many kernels. They expand a ridiculous degree after popping. For a standard lunch sack, I use 50g. That's about a quarter cup if you're a volumetric guy.

Awesome thanks I was wondering the volume. I make popcorn constantly too and it is a highly underrated food and this might make it 10x easier but i will have to see for myself.

It burns easily in the microwave and there are always unpopped kernels so I prefer to do the other method I gave you. 100% pop rate. Just shake the bowl around with the handle until done.
Anyway, that's why I said to stop the nukebox just as the popping slows, so as to prevent burning
>>

yeah so i have to admit i thought that was method was kind of retarded so mentally filtered it because if picrel is a camp handle i own no such object and neither a metal bowl that i am comfortable holding over the burner other than my pot which has a dedicated cover to boot.
>>
>>22149812
Yeah, I've got one of those but I meant the clamp-y type. The only retarded part of it is how hot the bowl is after popping the corn. You can't hold it for several minutes until it cools down but other than that, it works a treat.
