Always go with the lime. Lemons make foods taste rotten. Limes enhance the flavor. A simple test is to make guacamole. put lime in one lemon in the other. With the fat of the avocado you can taste the subtractive quality of lemon. Save it for lemonade.
Apparently these has been popular in Asia, they are called perfume lemons, and they have a very nice fragrance, tried one of those drinks with them when I visited Singapore

I hear about people making LEMONade but I rarely if ever hear about people making LIMEade. And then for candies yellow is almost always lemon so it's easy to keep track of but green could be not only lime but also flavors like green apple or watermelon so it's not super consistent. And overall despite preferring the color green over the color yellow I somehow just think lemons look prettier than limes. That specific shape just goes better with yellow than with green. Lemon meringue pie and key lime pie are equally great though and I could literally eat both for a million years and never get bored.
