A few days ago I had some leftover pasta and sauce that my mother had sent me home with. However, I didn't have any protein, so I decided to buy some Italian sausages to eat with them. When the sausages were done cooking, I had a flash of inspiration, and I threw the leftover pasta and sauce into the skillet, where it could reheat amid the olive oil and the sausage grease.

Here are some of the sausages; I actually had three of them, but one of them was already on my plate when I took this photo.

I live in a city with an Eataly, so that's where I bought them. Two spicy and one sweet. I enjoyed the variety.

The result was incredibly delicious. One of the best meals I've ever cooked at home.

Incidentally, I'm Sicilian on my mother's side, and this sauce is an old family recipe. My mother got it from her mother, who got it from HER mother, and I'm not sure how far back it goes or how old the recipe actually is.

It's sweeter than a typical marinara sauce which makes for a fun flavor.
