I'll preface this post w/ some context:>I'm a DD fanboy - have drank countless Dunkin' iced coffees>Buy og blend (med roast) ground bags to brew at home whenever I can>Have it down to a science to match the taste as accurately as possible to in-store iced coffee>Bought a bag from Dollar General yesterdayThis morning I brewed my DD from DG & this tastes nothing like Dunkin...It kinda tasted like Folgers. Now I already had a suspicious feeling because the bag didn't have that black plastic "bread tie" thing that DD (and other brands) bags always have. It was just sealed. Is there some shady business deal going on or something wherein DD lets DG put whatever crap coffee they have inside their branded bags? As stated before, I drink a lot of Dunkin & I know their coffee. This was NOT Dunkin coffee. WTF is goin on here?
If I have to buy poison drug stimulant bitter water for those who are addicted to it, I always buy from Costco since they curate all their products.
>>22161563Except coffee is good for you. And tastes delicious. The caffeine is just a bonus.
>>22161565Yeah, good for you just like capsaicin is a self preservation tool that prevents the plant from being eaten. Coffee is the same. We humans are just retarded and always looking for the next fix. Things that have evolved to be unappealing or poisonous to us is not something I want to be injesting regularly. But yeah, what I said about costco. That's one of the things you pay them for. Knowledgeable buyers that do the work giving you a great product.
>>22161563>If I have to buy poison drug stimulant bitter water for those who are addicted to ityou're such an insufferable faggot holy shit
>>22161569>Things that have evolved to be unappealing… are not something [anyone] wantsAnd now you know why you'll be forever alone, uggo
>>22161569Capsaicin has anti inflammatory properties and anti fungal properties, dummy. The anti fungal part is important because that's specifically why it was used to begin with. Coffee also has several antioxidants, more than you'd get from most other sources. And caffeine is beneficial for brain health. Humans are actually pretty durable when it comes to toxic substances. These plants didn't evolve to have such high concentrations of this substances on accident. They were cultivated that way. So I'm gonna keep on eating chocolate, which has theobromine, eating apples, whos seeds contain cyanide, and drinking coffee. Which is good for you. Unironically.
>>22161559It’s quite possible that you have really good tastebuds, both coffee brands are produced by JM Smucker and it wouldn’t surprise me to find out they send cheaper beans to Dollar General
I don't recommend buying any food products at any dollar stores. That shit is all made in India. If it doesn't say it's made in India, it's "Distributed by" a company that sourced the products from India.India does not have good food safety standards.
>WTF is goin on here? It's stale. The namebrand products there are either discontinued or shortdated surplus.
>>22161559Were you always buying it from Dollar General? The most likely answer is just that Dollar General doesn't have the strictest quality control. It's probably still Dunkin coffee but maybe it just didn't get processed properly.
>>22162424Processed properly? What do you think DG has it's own processing plant where they make every item they sell there?
>>22162483No you tard. Dollar general gets the scraps while big name stores get the quality shit. The fuck do you expect from a dollar general? Quality?
>>22161559There's no way for us to tell without doing a thorough investigation. Sometimes major brands do "special product runs" for large retailers. The Oreos sold at Costco are famously NOT THE SAME as regular Oreos sold in every other grocery store. This happens a lot with Costco. Sometimes it's an improvement (which lots of people claim is the case for the Oreos) but usually it's just to cheapen the fuck out of the product.Usually this is more of a regional thing (Cadbury UK vs Cadbury USA).
>>22162424>Were you always buying it from Dollar General? No, this is the first time I have ever bought Dunkin from DG. I have alwyas bought it at either Publix, Food Lion, Walmart, etc. Always tasted consistent until now.Just had another iced coffee this morning from my DG mystery bag, and it still tastes off.
>>22162416>It's stale.Well it certainly did taste stale, yes. But I've also had stale DD, which I'm still certain this is not.>>22162948>Sometimes major brands do "special product runs" for large retailers.>usually it's just to cheapen the fuck out of the product.Huh, that's interesting. I've only been inside a Costco once in my life, years ago. But there have been products I've bought before where I think, "why does this batch taste so weird?"So what's the purpose of these product runs though? Are they market tests to see how consumers respond to (or see if they even notice) slight ingredient changes—with the end goal to mass-produce that changed formula to cut costs?
>>22163209Check dates. I was at a family dollar (the red one, dollar general being yellow and dollar tree being green) and every single starbucks glass coffee on the shelf was at least a month out of date, some far back as 2024not saying that is what it is, as you said it tastes like folgers and not just stale or old
Probably not a shady “DG puts Folgers in Dunkin bags” situation. Dunkin’s retail coffee is licensed to J.M. Smucker, which manufactures/distributes packaged Dunkin coffee through retailers including dollar stores. It also doesn’t necessarily use the exact same coffee served in Dunkin restaurants. That said, if you drink Dunkin constantly and have your brewing method dialed in, a major taste difference is worth investigating. Different production batches or packaging could potentially explain it.The missing twist tie alone doesn’t prove anything.Check the back for the lot/date code and manufacturer information. If you post photos of the bag, especially the tiny print/code, I can take a closer look.
>>22163448BRO YOU CAN COUNT THE TOES ON ANTS TO FIND THE UPC CODE. BEEP BOOP.
>>22161569>being this much of a no fun dick
