Most of the sauces I tried so far are disgustingly sweet (loaded with corn syrup) or have too much garlic. I don't understand why people think BBQ sauce has to taste like a fucking soda. I'm looking for something more neutral, smokey, tomato forward, but tell me what you like.

Dales bbq by my house, I haven't found one in the store that comes close, it's really vinagery and I think it uses a lot of onions

You'd probably like Stubbs if you don't want excessive sweetness. When I was a kid I loved Sweet Baby Ray's but as I grew older I realized how insanely sugary it was and switched to Stubbs.

Bachans tastes good on its own, but it doesn't work as bbq sauce. I tried it on both beef, chicken, fish- it doesn't seem to work well with anything except plain rice and ramen. It's also really different from what Americans consider bbq sauce, it's closer to teriyaki.

I am partial to this sauce but dont buy it..Im just disappointed with all the other sauces I have so will either make this or buy some. Neumanns Own is a up front sweet hickory that is almost a dead match to big corpo chain "barbecue sauce" flavor. Think TGIF baby back ribs or Mcdonalds chicken nugget sauce. Its ok but not barbecue sauce.

I like Blues Hog Bbq sauce when it is on sale
>>
I like Oklahoma Joe's, but only at the restaurant with my fries.

how does Kinders rate?

If you like a non sweet sauce, there is a sauce made in St Louis called Maulls. It is thin and not very sweet..it cooks on chicken really good

God awful.

Can you buy it outside of St. Louis fellow bbq enjoyer
>>

I am not sure, but if you see it..it's a good base sauce
>>
im pretty sure its jacks "the best BBQ sauce youll ever taste"

for supermarket sauce I go with Bull's Eye. Smokey, molassesy, and some actual spice

I'll look online and order some. I see they make more than one. I'll start with Genuine and KC Style (Kansasfag)
>>
I love Stubbs to be honest that is my favourite

Stubb's Smokey Mesquite is probably my favorite store bought sauce. The regular Stubb's is alright too, almost fruity tasting to me so I prefer the Smokey Mesquite.
>>22163602
After having Stubb's for a while and trying Sweet Baby Ray's again it legitimately just tastes like almost nothing to me, maybe brown sugar? That's about it.
>>22163720
There's one flavor they have that I think is okay. Almost like Sweet Baby Ray's but slightly more flavorful, so I augment it with some ketchup and a dash of Cholula and mix it together in a little custard cup.

Never had it but that shit is insanely overpriced. The only big difference I can see from the ingredients is they use worcestershire sauce.

this and open pit are my favorites, I buy a bottle of each and mix them
but I've found two different bulls-eye for sale, the one sold at dollar general is different than at a regular grocery.
different calories per serving, I didn't taste a difference though

tomorrow I'm slow cooking a ham with some pineapple juice. once it's falling apart I'm going roughly pull it and then roast it for a few minutes in the oven with pickerel glazed over the top. the whiskey-based BBQ sauce is so good slightly charred over pulled ham
