What is the best quality instant coffee widely available (in Australia)?Do not tell me to go drink real coffee. If I wanted advice on real coffee I'd be asking about real coffee.
The ones with those kind of grains are always a safe bet, although expensive most of the time.

I haven't tried many weird brands because this stuff lasts so long it would take me a lifetime to try 10 different brands.ALSO if you can find it the Starbuck's instant used to be my fav but it seems to have disappeared. The medium and dark roast are both amazing, and it has a little but of powdered coffee bean in it so you get a much richer flavour from it than just plain crystals

>>22174465When I was a wagie I always liked the finely ground nescafe 43 for a basic hot drink with milk/sugar. I would also get the Jarrah pre-mix or the Nescafe/Moccona double shot sachets when they were on special and use that with an extra shot of generic instant since those mixes only have a few grams of actual coffee to bulk up the intensity. For iced coffee I would use the generic aldi/coles/woolies & add sugar because it was cheap.Coles & Woolies are doing specials on Vittoria at the moment so you could try them.Thing is that instant is so goddamn expensive that you're paying at least $35 per kilo for the lowest of the low quality stuff, and anything "high end" will be more like $60 to $80.Aldi's home brands are slightly cheaper than the other home brands, so I would suggest buying one of their basic 200g jars and the slightly fancier looking 100g jars and see if you like one or the other more. Instant coffee in Australia is mostly Robusta coffee beans, not the Arabica beans used for espresso coffee. Robusta beans are cheaper and they come from Indonesia.For the best Robusta instant coffee taste you should check out Indonesian coffee brands from an Asian grocer.Usually these come in a premix with milk powder and sugar. Popular brands are Good Day, IndoCafe and Kopiko (who also make the caffeinated candies)Another good brand is Old Town Coffee from MalaysiaThese all generally taste better than the average Nescafé or store brand instant coffee
