You wouldn't a eat a whole onion, seven baby bell peppers, a whole can of beans, a whole jar of tomato sauce, and 1 1/3 pounds of ground beef separately all in a single sitting. But if it was made into a chili...?

Point is: I feel like a fat slob right now.

Ouch.

I know the feeling. Chili can be so damn good.

Considering all of the liquid weight that was drained and cooked out, It was probably closer to 4 pounds. Just roughly estimating.
Jar of tomato sauce was 24 ounces.
Beans 15 ounces.(Drained the water from the can before adding
Ground beef came from a big pack that I divided into 4 blocks. Each roughly 21 ounces.
And then google says the small onion weighed about 4 ounces, and the bell peppers 0.7 ounces each.
Add it all up, and it's about 4.31 pounds of food. And then assuming all the water that was cooked out, rounding down to 4 pounds.

But yeah, still a lot. I was planning on making it stretch 4 meals. 1 tonight, and 3 tomorrow. But I couldn't help myself. Went in for seconds. Then 10 minutes after finishing seconds I went to transfer the chilli from the pot to a container. But because I could stop myself, I was bringing the whole contain to my desk and shoveling the rest in my mouth.

And you should.

I wouldn't eat that much even then. I had a bowl of chili (yay Costco) today for my single meal (OMAD). It was maybe a third as much as you ate (but I did put a bunch of crumbled cheddar on top). It was good, probably a bit too much even though it was a hell of a lot less than you ate, and now I'm farting out an immense cloud of methane that will cause hurricanes and global warming.

JFC, I take it back, I ate only about a quarter as much as you did.
>>
why do people put bell peppers in chili? it's not gumbo.
>>
>>22175612
maybe just wanting the flavor of peppers without the heat of chili peppers
>>
gawd damn now I want some chili
>>
>>22175615
you know the traditional peppers you make chili with aren't spicy right?
>>
>>22175636
they're not super spicy but some people don't like any heat at all. or maybe they just don't have those peppers available.
>>
>>22175648
it's not any hotter than taco seasoning.
>>
>>22175677
yeah i know but even that is too spicy for some people. some people really have zero tolerance for spiciness. some people might just be more sensitive to it than others.

OP are you fat or were you just abnormally hungry?
>>

OP here. I didn't actually make chili. But I didn't know what else to call my beef and bean with tomato sauce concoction. So I just said it was chili. There was in fact, zero chili pepper in the chili.
I do like a mildly spicy chili. But aside from some jalapeno, I didn't have any spice on hand. I wasn't in the mood for jalapeno today, so I didn't put them in.

In all honestly, I don't know what "real" chili is supposed to consist of, except for beef, been, tomato paste, and chili pepper. I put vegetables in there just to make the flavor more varied while increasing its nutritional value. I don't see why chili can't have bell pepper.

there are as many different kinds of chili peppers as there are kinds of apples. not all of them are spicy like not all apples are sour. the main peppers that chili is supposed to be made out of are ancho and guajillo, neither of which is spicy.

I was a high metabolism kid growing up, and it didn't slow down until I was about 30 years old. So I've developed terrible eating habits, where I gorge myself. I'm a little overweight now. But not by much. Skinny fat frame. Nothing that more walks can't fix. I've been eating robustly the last couple weeks. I just went overkill tonight.
