How do I even start learning to cook. Long story short I am 25 and trying to lose weight. Ive eaten straight fast food every day for like 3 years. The only home cooking i have done is boxed mac and cheese and ramen.

here is what I am working with right now
>chicken breast
>yellow mustard
>BBQ sauce
>paprika
>2 bell peppers
>shredded lettuce
>3 avocados

I got the mustard as the base for the chicken to season it and I got the vegetables as the sides. I am not sure how good this will be though.

I’m not reading all that. Cook some spaghetti.

im trying to cut out carbs.

Also how would i meal prep spaghetti, it turns mushy after a day in the fridge

Dice up chicken breast and bell peppers, fry in pan with oil. Add BBQ sauce and a bit of mustard after chicken is cooked. Serve over bed of shredded lettuce. Throw avocados in the garbage can.

Fry whole chicken breasts in pan get a nice sear on both sides, transfer to oven on broiler setting, glaze chicken breasts with BBQ/Mustard. Serve with salad made of shredded lettuce and bell peppers. Throw avocados in the garbage can.

Not pointing this out to mock you, just to point out the lack of skill. That's all cooking is: a skill. And like any skill, it develops the more you do it.
So here's what we know
• you can boil
And that's great, but it won't help you with what you're trying to do right now. Furthermore, without a little fat in that chicken breast meal you're planning, you're going to feel unsatisfied and that will (not might; will) make you snack and break what dieting you're trying to do.
Have you already started cooking your chx tit/mustard/barbecue sauce/paprika dish? If not, the do something else instead: green coronation chicken lettuce wraps. You have lettuce but you said it's shredded; is it shredded already or are you going to shred it? If the later, don't. If the former, that's okay, too. You mentioned having bell peppers. Make bell pepper cups instead.
Here's the idea: pan fry the breasts in a little oil on medium low heat to help prevent drying the chicken out. Just salt, sear and let it do its thing before salted the still-raw, unsalted side, flipping and repeating the process.
Remove from the heat and chop up then set aside to cool.
Mash the avocados and mix with a little mayonnaise and curry powder then add the now-cooled chicken and mix.
Eat your verdant chicken salad with lettuce as wraps or spoon into vertically-split-in-half peppers. Eat the lettuce as a salad or if you used the lettuce as wraps, chop the peppers up add to your chicken salad.
This will feel more satisfying to eat due to the fat from the mayonnaise and it's the easiest thing to do with the ingredients you presented. Good luck

Actually it's protein, not fat, which signals satiety. Protein supresses ghrelin and triggers the natural release of GLP1

how long do u cook the chicken for when u are putting on the stove
>>
just start by following recipes. it's literally just following instructions. read them thoroughly before you start so you have an idea of what you're going to be doing and you aren't caught off guard in the middle of cooking. getting better just takes experience. the more you cook, the more comfortable you will get in the kitchen. if you pay attention to what you're doing and why, eventually you wont need to rely on recipes as much.
as for what recipes? whatever you want to eat. again, if you can follow basic instructions, you're golden. if you have a bunch of ingredients and don't know what to use them for, list them into chatgpt and ask for suggestions on what to make (you can go find a recipe written by a person afterwards if you don't trust AI for a full recipe, it's good for suggesting things like that though)

You dont need to be fancy.
>chicken breast (poached, air fried, baked)
>potatoes or sweet potatoes (microwaved, air fried, baked, no oil or butter)
>whole oats (microwaved in water, no sugar, possibly fruit)
>>22178147
You don't need to cut carbs. Potatoes, sweet potatoes and oats are good for overall health and weightloss as long as you don't add oil and sugar.
Just cut bread and rice, but keep the potatoes and whole oats.

Beans and bean dishes are great too

You meal prep the sauce, cook the pasta fresh each day you at it. Cooking the pasta only takes 10 mins + a couple mins for the water to boil. Making the sauce with prep time etc is the time consuming part.

You cook it until it's done. Ok, I know that doesn't sound helpful. But there's too many variables, there is no universal time to cook a piece of meat. It depends on the size and thickness of the breast, the heat of your stove (all appliances.are different), what kind of pan you're using, and so on.
Cook it until it's all white on the outside, then cook it a few minutes more. Cut it open in the center to check if its still pink inside, cook it until it's not. You're probably looking at 5-10 minutes depending on the size of the breast, maybe a little more if it's a thick one. If you really want precision, get yourself a meat thermometer, that's the only way to really measure it.

cooking as a life skill is greatly exaggerated in difficulty. cooking was difficult before modern tools and logistics, but that stopped being true in like the 50s. there's endless optimization you can do but in terms of getting reasonably tasty nutrition on your plate it's got a low level of difficulty. follow recipes, use common sense on subbing in ingredients you have on hand, and that's basically it. if you don't even know how to heat a frying pan with oil watch a general guide or something and you should be set.

I was taking about satisfaction not satiety. Satisfying not satiating. Two different things. Eating fatless food is supremely unsatisfying to the point that even if it's satiating, you will not want to eat it. People don't snack because they're not satiated. They snack because they're not satisfied.

If you overcook it, it's fine. You have one bad set of meals and you learn to cook a little less next time. That's what I was getting at earlier with skills and practice.
The best way to develop skill is to use what you learn.

this
I would also recommend watching the videos they sometimes include on a website, they will usually go into more detail over why they're doing certain things and it can help you get an idea of what could work in the future
