I just did, I bought a pack of sardines today and as I was eating I saw this weird thread like thing hanging from one of the sardines, I looked closer and sure enough, it's a tapeworm.

I cleaned up and didn't have a sesame bagel for a few days and the seeds were back in his bed and I was thinking "what the fuuuucccckkkkkk, nooooooo" as I was holding a "seed" between my fingers and I realized it was a tapeworm segment. Imagine picrel but the segments are separated.

>>22180145Oh, sorry. I took kitty to the vet immediately with a plastic baggie of the tapeworm segments. Vet said yup tapeworms and prescribed a dewormer. As for me, the vet said I wasn't at risk because I didn't let him sleep in my bed and he only slept in specific areas like his cat bed and I noticed it a week or two after getting him from the shelter. He didn't have fleas and the vet said he most likely got the tapeworms from other cats at the shelter. It was weird though because I took him to the vet a few days after I got him and I don't remember if they gave him a dewormer or not. He had ear mites and they prescribed anti mite medicine but I guess they didn't think he needed a dewormer which seems kind of odd to not give a shelter cat who was just adopted but I'm not a vet so idk. It's been a decade since then and I didn't end up with tapeworms and he's never had any more parasite trouble.
