What’s the appeal of burning your tongue and giving yourself acid reflux and burning diarrhea?
>>22181610Capsaisin is very overrated. It's really is just masochists hurting themselves because they like the pain. I guess it distracts from other pain and existential dread about shit they can't control. Because if you spend all day with a burnt tongue and a ass on fire, that is all you think about. And of course, a certain type with no personality has made it their personality to consume HOT SAUCE. These are basically lifestyle masochists, just sans the gimp gear and a dom. A little bit though does add kick to dishes. But emphasis on LITTLE bit. Too much and it drowns out everything.
>>22181615>too much and it drowns out everything I couldn’t agree more. If you can’t even taste the food, what’s the point?
>>22181610I don't seek it out but it also doesn't bother my stomach or colon
Once you start prioritizing spiciness, you end up complaining that this dish lacks heat and tastes bland.
>>22181610I don't have digestive issues from it. I don't have much of an issue eating very spicy things but I still think it ends up taking something away if it's more than just a mild warmth. If it's hot enough to make your nose run while eating then it's just annoying.
>>22181610You are either a Europoor or tastelet. No respect for those who can't handle spice
>>22181658Spice is one thing, but if it’s overpowering, I think it’s a little silly seeing people sweat and their eyes watering while they give everyone a reassuring thumbs up.

spicy food was invented by poor people trying to cover the foul taste of rotting meat and moldy veggies
>>22181737Cope
>>22181737spiciness won't mask the taste of rotten meat.
>>22181610Some “spicy” foods is actually flavorful from the spice and not just numbing heat. Chik fila spicy tastes completely different than regular and it’s not even that spicy.
I put this on everything. I don't need to explain myself. To me this no more spicy than black pepper but it tastes amazing. I don't care what mortals think of spicy food
>>22181792>mortalscringe
>>22181793>cringeCringe.
>>22181816exactly
it a sensory enhancer like salt or MSG. the right balanced amount brings out a depth to the flavor of the food. For some it's like a test of strength. Nothing like battling with your bro over some spicy wings to see who can take it without taping out first. Some people love to overload it at times for the endorphin high that comes after. You build a tolerance to it and eventually you need some insane level shit to just get a little kick. For me it was born out of competition with my brother. If he could take it I had to 1up him and that went back an forth to the point jalapenos are equal to bell pepper for me.
>>22181726Depends on the person. I had a Swedish friend who thought Heinz tomato ketchup was too spicy.
>>22181822People who say cringe unironically are very cringe.
>>22181832agreed
>>22181737This is definitely a big part of it.
>>22181763Once you reach habanero level spice tolerance you will realize that the habanero has a great taste, very sour and fruity. I love a simple homemade habanero fresh salsa, just lime, salt and finely chopped habanero.
>>22181658Brown people eat mud cakes.
>>22181610It's a matter of how used you are to it. A little spice is nice, but what people perceive as a little differs. Well except for some masochists ig.
>>22181610it releases endorphins. I feel very awake and refreshed after eating a bowl of spicy ramen. and it tastes good. I don’t expect everyone to go balls to the wall with spice but it’s so unbecoming of an adult that can’t tolerate any amount of spice. I have a relative in her 30s who won’t eat anything remotely spicy. not even the mildest buffalo sauce. we were eating some onion rings once and she was hooting and hollering, and like fanning her mouth. I think there was a small amount of cayenne in them, but not enough for the heat to even register with me. like jesus christ grow up.
>>22181615It's called endorphins dumb fuck.
Eating spicy food is poor-coded.Once people get money, I notice they stop liking spicy food.Mexicans stop eating spicy salsas on everything.Black people stop lathering hot sauce on everything.Even Indians start eating their curry mild.Spicy food seems to be prided most among the lower classes.
>>22182347Not eating spicy food is vagina-coded.Turns out that affluence turns people into faggots. Who knew?
>>22182397A lot of poor minded people don’t know the difference between herbs and spices or spices vs spicyPoor people conflate heat with "spice". Spice is flavor and aroma. Hot "spice" is just a burning sensation. Completely different. True spice is great.
