literally nobody likes QR menus, not even the youngest tech addicts. Why are you taking a side that doesn't exist? Contrarianism?
>>
>>22181985
Very few people outside of 4chinz care either way unc scan the code or leave it's not a big deal
>>
I dealt with that once and it was a few months ago. I wanted to smack a bitch. I got cheong fen with tilapia and it tasted nice and was cheap so I ain't that mad at it but it's a goddamn hassle. You order on the phone, tell them which table is yours and they bring out the food.
>>22181996
Hardly. It's such a common gripe in my area that several places have switched off from QR in recent years. That's why I never encountered it: people were actively avoiding QR. I can maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe understand QR for an ever-changing menu but for some static shit the cheong fun place I went to that "pivoted away from paper" (just like that other poster's example) has had the same menu since the early 2000s, with the only thing changing is the special. They switched to QR recently because the last time I was there back in January, they still had wait staff, laminated menus and sandwich board announcing the special. Actually, that's another gripe: they don't even have wait staff anymore for you to ask what the special is that day directly.
I'd prefer Japanese ticket restaurants over this shit. Fuck QR. Fuck It right in the ass with a big rubber dick.
>>
>>22181996
I care. One of the places I went to told me to scan the code, but there was no signal due to its location. I told them I couldn't get signal and the twink waiter said "oh yeah, nobody can"
>>
>>22182018
So what happened? Paper menu?
Also, QR opens them up to ADA suits because the menus are often not compatible with reader software so blind people can't use it

To be fair, tech illiterate retards usually misdiagnose problems that boil down to end user error as a system problem. If someone over the age of 50 said that an app was not working properly, you'd be right more often than not in assuming the mistake was on their end.
Before you get defensive, remember that you can hate QR code menus and recognize the above is true at the same time.
>>
>>22182060
No. I always assume it's the app that's broken because it usually is. Anyone who has ever used digital coupons and has had to have the cashier do a price override knows this.
My most recent example? A site wouldn't let me order grocery pickup for some reason. The "place your order" button did nothing. It wasn't even greyed out, indicating missing information. It just didn't do anything when tapped.
The next morning? Voila! It works! If I was doing the exact same thing both times, the problem was clearly not on my end.
Servers go down. Code breaks due to update. And both of these things happen goddamn constantly.
You know what doesn't "break" or "go down"? A paper menu. Laminate that shit if you need to.
>>
>>22182066
I get your point about the frequency of app errors, but please understand that it only speaks to the gravity of my own when I say that boomers/genX are just that fucking retarded that they are more reliably at fault than these shitty apps are. Maybe you are blessed in not being exposed to their tech retardation as often and for that I envy you.
Or maybe you are one of those retards and you are wielding terms like "server" or "code break" the way I've heard boomers mention firewalls without understanding their meaning. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since you're capable of posting on this site.

>>22182036
>>22182037
>>22182044
Uh anons... They're starting to this in the norf too
>>
>>22182071
Not code break. The code breaks. As in an update causes the code to no longer work as intended. It becomes nonfunctioning. Happens all the time.
With a grocery app, that's not a big deal because you can just wait an hour or however long for them to fix the problem but you're not going to sit at a restaurant table waiting for some non-existent IT guy to fix whatever's broken (or move the router and share the Wi-Fi password in >>22182018's example if it's a simple signal issue).
And yeah, I don't really deal with people who can't into tech, I guess. Or if I do, I didn't talk to them about it. I nonetheless still have what I would consider a completely valid hatred of tech despite knowing how to use it. Rather than make things simpler, a lot of tech has become an inconvenience. That's why I mentioned the ticket machines in >>22182006
They're also an inconvenience but not nearly as bad as broken code.
>>
>go to McDonald's
>order at the counter

Not him but if you think you're worth getting decent service then I wouldn't tell the waitress because they'll get pissy and just give you shitty service out of spite. If she's not worthy of the courtesy of respect then she's not worthy of the courtesy of honesty. She would feel doubly disrespected if she provided proper service with the understanding that you would tip her, only for you to deny her that when she would have treated you worse if you hadn't misled her.
>but I'll just tell the manager
He won't do shit when the waitress tells him you informed her you don't tip. He'll probably encourage her to give bad service so you don't return to not tip again.

A good restaurant should have both to cater to whatever the customer wants to do.
>>

going cashless is the very first step in the extinction of humanity.
remember this while you're dying from starvation.
>>
>>22182170
It's easier to update a QR code menu and they can integrate a self-pay option so your server needs to visit you less. It's not for your convenience, though people with smartphones who are fine with it might find it so.

>>
>>22182185
You think that in some apocalyptic scenario when society has collapsed and the grocery stores are long since burned to the ground, the scattered tribes of humanity will refuse to trade with each other like anon suggested because "well it's not how grocery stores used to do it" and instead go extinct? Fucking retard.

>>22182187
You said "extinction". There's a lot of steps between a QR code menu and the last human on earth dying, and I think that eventually people will prefer trading produce over upholding the traditions of cashless grocery stores.

The collapse of current modern society is not the same thing as extinction. Major social upheavals do typically result in starvations and killings but that’s usually the people who were already on the very bottom either way. Rural and the suburbs around the rural areas will have the opportunity to just go without convenience more easily.
There are many people in cities developing urban gardens for their community as well, so like.. unless you’re a spiteful mutant who can’t get along with people you’ll probably be fine.

My hometown is classified as a sufficiency city in the global rankings meaning that it produces enough for itself and is so unimportant to international trade that we're insulated from global economic collapse. Men who kinda as an act temporarily slip into the role of an extra effeminate woman and then when the act is over they remove the make up, take off that dress and are normal men that even their fans would not recognize on the street - a fact that for them surely is more than welcome.
>>
>>22182210
>I am not getting good service
That's cool but I don't see you denying that you'll get worse service if you tell her upfront that you're not tipping. If you want worse service because you think the waitress deserves your honesty more than you deserve better service then that's your personal white knight quest.

>>
>>22182177
Thats a good point, but then that also begs the question of why i should tip as much then if the server isnt doing as much work? Not bringing the paper menu, not bringing the check - hell sometimes you dont even need the server to place your order cause you can do it through the app. I went to a Nando's recently where it was all done on the app. A hostess seated me and the waiter did nothing but bring me my food. I got my drink myself from the station they has set up.
With all that work not being done, i dont feel compelled to tip as much or at all.
>>
>>22182210
Why are you going out to garbage restaurants then? Kek
Sounds like youre creating your own problems. The restaurant owners dont care, they will continue to operate how they see fit.
>>
>>22181918
This is so they can adjust the menu prices and charge iphone users more.
>>
>>22182247
People usually tip out of social custom and how much they tip(if at all) at places like these is usually based more on their general satisfaction with their dining experience than it is on the level of service. There will be a lot of overlap between server effort and diner satisfaction, but some people who are accustomed to less human contact and tap-to-pay frictionless spending might prefer paying their bill in 10 seconds without server effort over waiting 5-10 minutes for a server to juggle getting your check ready with 5 other tables they are waiting on. People aren't rational creatures at the end of the day.
>>
>>22182253
I'm with the other guy. Fuck tipping if that's the situation he's dealing with.
>>
>>22182293
If it's a no-service situation then sure, I'm just saying that sit-down places that use QR code menus and self-pay at the table might be preferable for a subset of tech-absorbed people and if they're happier with their experience then they might tip more, or the amount they tip less might be outweighed by what the restaurant gets out of that way of doing things.
