Why has the price risen so much lately? It's not just general inflation, it's more than that. And it's not like they're made from beef. Pork is still relatively inexpensive so why are pork rinds so much more expensive than they used to be?
Also, anyone who gets them from an ethnic market instead of the mass produced kind, are those prices still reasonable? I'm only being a whiny bitch about the stuff from supermarkets. Maybe Hispanic stores still are reasonable?
>>
>>22184229
exceptional bread crumb substitute if you're diabetic. I'll never understand why manufacturers add MOAR SALT to an already salty piece of puffed pig skin.
>>
>>22184352
Is pork naturally salty?
>>
>>22184337
The same reason even the off brand chilled coffee now cost $4. Greedy as fuck companies that are all chasing each other in price.

Come to the South and you'll still find random gas stations making them from scratch, served hot for dirt cheap.
>>
>>22184362
Does The South have anything else of note or just gas station 'rinds?
>>
>>22184377
gas station boiled peanuts

Love 'em!
>>
>>22184353

>>
>>22184229
do you have real pork rinds that can potentially break a tooth?
>>

Yo nigga shit’s just GOOFY

Anything more than pork skin and seasoning is unacceptable.

This
I can guarantee that this bullshit was fried in SEED OILS by virtue of the "soya protein" on the label.

REAL Chicharrones Criollos are only fried in pork fat (manteca de cerdo).

One of the healthiest foods that you can eat.

Love them. I use them instead of bread crumbs on my baked goods.

evidently you do retard
>>
>>22185096
Exactly how fat are you?
>>
>>22184229
I can only eat a handful before I become fatigued by the flavor, too much fat at once for me, and I love putting butter and oil in everything, but balance is also important in making great flavor. they are a great keto sub for breadcrumbs though

>>
>>22184229

>>
>>22184880
gawd damn dems look TASTY
>>
I've had the microwave kind, they're pretty good, replaced the bagged ones like your pic related.
The beer store I've been going to started carrying "cracklins" a few years ago and I never looked back, it's got these hunks of soft fat, love it
fucking awful aftertaste with my beer though, so I eat a few before drinking and don't touch the bag until the next day
>>
>>22184880
I treat those as savory jawbreakers.

I was gonna say they're still cheap at Aldi (at the same quality for typical packaged shit) but they went up 50 cents a bag since the last time I looked a week ago
>>
>>22184352
because the panko mail order shit is just some reseller grinding up snack pork rinds that were already heavily salted

Pork rinds are the main competition to Friday fish fries.
>>
>>22184337
If you go to Dollar Tree/General which is really the only reasonable place to buy junk food these days, a big bag of any pork rinds is a dollar twenty five, compared to a four dollar bag of Whoritos for the same size

My entire allocation for junk is spent at dollar stores on pork rinds, dollar twenty five Rockstars and Rip It's, Dollar Twenty five wild berry Harribos, dollar twenty five Japanese peanuts, and frozen White Castle sliders
>>
>>22187729
Oh and giant bags of dollar twenty five cheddar popcorn. Popcorn and pork rinds are the non fat ass and intelligent shopper snacks, let the memeing gamers and potheads have their Whoritos
>>
>>22187732
homemade popcorn is so cheap it's like buying a bag of flour or dry beans though
>>
>>22187800
Yeah but I mostly like cheese popcorn best, and I could stock cheese powder I guess but that's a lot of extra steps for something really only eat when I'm drinking beer or watching movies anyway
>>
>>22187729
Dollar Tree pork rinds are around 2.5oz, while typical bag at grocery stores are around 4-4.5oz. Dollar Tree still comes out to be a bit less expensive but not by a very large margin.
>>
>>22187729
>wild berry Harribos
A man of fine taste
>>
I like pork rinds but I think they are very unhealthy so I don't eat them
>>
>>22184229
They are nice, but vary a lot between brands and flavors. Some choices are fucking awful, genuinely disgusting. I eat the simple walmart brand ones, regular and barbecue, and they taste decent especially for the price. High in protein too. Autists will screech it is incomplete protein, but still much better than potato or tortilla chips.
>>
>>22184229
lidl has some pretty good ones
