In the market for a new blender it seems to have come down between Blendtecs total blender classic or a Vitamix 5200. Open to hearing suggestions
>>22185506Waste of money.Get a food processor with a blender attachment.
>>221855063 hit points won't get you far from Corneria.
>>22185518Starfox reference? Why
I have a 5200 series and if you overload the motor it overheats and shuts itself off for about 1 hour before allowing you to use it again to protect the motor. I understand the feature but it has ruined more than one meal for me.
>>22185529What did you to make that caused it to overheat? That would be frustrating
>>22185554huge batch of smoothies (not overfilled)and hummus.I contacted vitamix support about it and they said it was normal behavior for the blender.
my stand mixer came with a blender Its good enough and an additional one would be a waste of space. I certainly want a stand mixer to make dough.
>>22185506Thrift store.
>>22185506How often will you use it and what for?
>>22185506I got a vitamix 5200 and raged the first time i used it because i wasn't used to a blender that shuts itself down to cool off when you "use it correctly"Never grind on a slow speed setting, especially if you have a lot of crap in it to blend. Doesn't matter if its hard or soft. the vitamix requires high speeds to actually cool and run correctly, so when you run it on slow "to be careful", it immediately fucks itself in the ass. It's pretty much a horrible design because of that, yet I kept it anyways.now i always start it on low for 1 second and then immediately rip the speed up to medium, and then high, within 2 seconds, and then turn it onto the turbo setting (the highest) like another 2 seconds, later, tops. Even waiting that long (a whole 4 seconds before going to top speed) makes me think its going to overheat again. But i've never had it get even close to overheating when running it at top speed for a minute straight, which is absolutely overkill and will pulverize absolutely anything into a pate. (which I do)
>>22185529>>22186870kek this guy actually posted my exact experience pretty muchyeah, you CANNOT run the 5200 (probably any vitamix, at this rate of enshittification) at slow speeds whatsoever or it will overheat. Makes no sense!
>>22186870>>22186872I've blended chicken bones (very-well boiled, but still whole bones, semi-crushed) and all of the meat that came off of them all in the same batch on my 5200, the same one that overheat when i ran it on slow to test some fruit smoothie as the very first thing i made (which made me go apeshit; i was ready to wage war on the company. haha)
>>22185524>starfox
>>22186875>>22186872yes apparently there's an internal cooling fan and it runs on the same drive as the motor, so you have to run the blender at full speed for almost all of its uses so that the cooling mechanism also runs at full speed.
I have a Vitamix 750 pro, I like it.I don't know what's different about its internal design but I have never had any overheating issues.
>>22186950I assume the newer models have a different cooling mechanism than tying it directly to the drive mechanism. It's a huge issue with the 5200 series.

>>22185506blenders are a meme, almost no use other than making juice and relatives.
>800w motor>Hardened steel blades>Glass jugThis is all you need, and you can find one for about 1/4 the price of the meme blenders.
>>22185518Depends if you have four fighters or not
>>22187323I use my meme blender to make nut butter, I know yours cannot do that.
>>22185506Get a Vitamix. Got 2 myself. Well one is mine and the other I bought for my parents and they never used it so they gave it back to me. I keep it in the basement in case my current one shits the bed on me. But I digress. You can find them on sale for under $200 refurbished. They still come with a warranty. All the accessories they come with are new.
