Favorite ramen tweaks?

Mine is to add crushed red pepper to the cheap Maruchan stuff. Gives it more of a kick.
>>
It always looks better with an egg
>>
>>22186500
crushed, unsalted peanuts
>>
>>22186500
uncrushed, salted peanuts
>>
>>22186500
Teriyaki sauce really that is all she needs.

>Mine is to add crushed red pepper to the cheap Maruchan stuff. Gives it more of a kick.
Fucking genius. I gotta try that
>>
>>22186500
Mine is to throw it in the garbage and buy better food.
>>
and there goes another /ck/ poorfag thread for the archives
>>
cup noodle
>pre-boil some amount of water
>add to cup noodle
>microwave for a minute
quicker and i'm going to die some day anyway
for brick ramen I snap it into thirds. you can grasp the elbow side and hopefully do a controlled break. it cooks just the same, but it's more manageable to eat instead of getting those ridiculous foot long noodles.
>>
Want every Asian family's "hack" for Maruchan from the 80s sand 90s?
Heat some oil, add spice of some kind. Curry powder, paprika, cayenne, a mix; whatever.
Then add the seasoning packet.
Then add mushroom seasoning powder.
Then add the premeasured water.
Then bring it to the boil.
Then add the noodle block.
Then add shrimp or sliced cooked pork (we pretty much only ever bought pork, Oriental and shrimp).
Then add blanched greens.
Then add boiled egg.
Then serve, drizzled with onion oil.
I know that to wypipo, it sounds like a lot of effort but it really, really isn't. You go from empty bowls to halfway decent dinner in about five-to-six minutes.
And get this: literally every type of Asian did this. The Muslim ones might've used raw hotpot beef instead of pork but the process was otherwise identical at every Asian home I ever visited that used Maruchan or Top Ramen back then.
>>
>>22186637
Hell yeah. That sounds awesome.

Thanks anon. I’m saving this.
>>
>>22186643
Thanks. We don't really do it anymore now that other brands are more readily available but back then, every chink, gook, nip, SEA monkey and Oriental had that shit for dinner at some point.

>take two packets of ramen, thinner noodles like the ones in mi goreng work best
>boil them according to directions but stop 1 minute before they would be done
>drain well
>heat oil in a pan on high, preferably a wok because it's easy to flip them
>reduce to medium and fry noodles for 2-3 minutes
>flip and fry another 2-3 minutes
>break them up so they aren't all stuck together
>if desired add very thinly sliced meats and/or veggies that will cook very fast
>toss them with the noodles
>finish with soy sauce, rice wine, oyster sauce, sugar, fish sauce, sesame oil, whatever you would normally use for fried rice
alternately you can use the flavor packet(s) but you should mix them in some liquid like soy sauce or even water to stop them from clumping up
>>
>>22186500
Egg, green onion, chili garlic sauce, and peanut butter.
>>
>>22186500
Boiled egg, frozen spinach, chicken, soy sauce, sesame oil and lemon
>>
I add the included seasoning pack for more flavor.

In Indonesia there is a popular instant noodle dish called "Internet noodles"
This is Indomie noodles with fried egg and corned beef. Usually the corned beef is fried with some hot chillies or sambal.
It's pretty damn good and only takes 2 minutes to make.

Here's a video:

>>
I used to dehydrate carrots/onions/garlic/radish and have jars of it in the pantry, I used to throw a spoon full of each into the broth as it came to a boil then put in the noodles, it added some flavor and texture.
>>
peanut butter, especially in chicken flavor

Adding slices of deli turkey.

if we are talking about the instant stuff then it's mixing the seasoning/oil packets with an egg yolk and a bit of mayo. Turns it into a lovely creamy broth when the water is added.
>>
pickled onions, corn, green peas if eating chicken/meat flavored
oyster sauce and shrimps cooked in butter if seafood flavored
>>
>>22186500
Butter, chili peppers, and sautéed vegetables.

I mix all the seasonings with 1-1.5 spoonfuls of peanut butter in the bowl beforehand, and whatever else you think would be good. Lately I add a bit of chinese soy sauce, some Worcestershire, some minced garlic, some honey, a hint of tajin, some sriracha. You take like half a cup of the hot water from the noodles and use it to melt the peanut butter and then vigorously mix all the seasonings into a suspension, and then mix the noodles into it, it makes a sauce that's delicious and adheres well to the noodles. You can also add green onion or mushroom or whatever you want. Simple delightful stuff.

I made my own chashu and ramen eggs and put them in Marutai Kumamoto Garlic recently. It was pretty solid. The Chashu was surprisingly easy, same ingredients as every other Japanese thing and pretty simple to do, took about an hour and a half but most of that was just letting it braise for an hour and turning it every 15 mins.

I also grew the green onions myself. They don't want you to know this but you can just plant the bottom 2" or so of store-bought green onions and get an infinite green onion glitch.
>>
>>22186500
I've done every ramen tweak under the sun and it still tasted like ass.
>>
>>22186592
You jelly your pork fat reduction risotto recipe got bumped off the board?
>>
>>22186500
I can't stop putting Japanese curry powder in all ramen even shitty ramen. Makes it 10/10
>>
>>22187739
Give me the brand name
>>
I'm surprised that the Japanese sanctify Hindustic and/or Buddhistic culture, the exact same way that Westerners do. To the point that they exalt food culture from that region, in the exact same fashion that rich people in Europe and America do.
>>
>>22187745
the fuck are you talking about
>>
>>22187741
not him but s&b is the standard japanese curry powder though there are other brands
>>
>>22186500
A big tablespoon of peanut butter can thicken the broth. You have to give it time to completely dissolve though
>>
>>22186500
>Favorite ramen tweaks?
There are no tweaks, it's shit.
Just make some steaks.
>>
>>22188322
>Just make some steaks.
i have a feeling this is your solution to everything and that you only eat one type of meal
>>
>>22188322
How does one ‘make’ a steak?
Are you a cow or just an ESL retard?
>>
>>22188414
if you cant parse "make some steaks" into something meaningful on a cooking board, you dont get to use the ESL card, bovid-kun
>>
>>22188427
>t. ESL
>>
>>22188322
Steak is about as boring as it gets as far as dinner goes, I'd basically rather eat anything else, its boomerslop and you are a gay
>>
>>22188430
>A: "make some fried eggs"
>B: "YOU'RE NEITHER A CHICKEN NOR A FRYING PAN, ESL RETARD"
ffs get a hobby
>>
>>22188444
I can't come up with anything pithy to reply with so in just gonna say >>22188430 was my only post and I made it just to get a reaction. Thank you for giving me that reaction. Now go "make" (cook) some steak and eggs.
>>
>>22188442
Fish steaks, there are so many meats out there!
COME ON!!
>>
>>22188447
go forth and keep spamming "ESL" in contexts where it makes you look like an idiot
you'll be providing a useful service; being another inbred village idiot to be ridiculed, i mean
>>
>>22188254
see here >>22187560 if you add the noodle water to the peanut butter first you can accelerate this by whisking vigorously and the result is better
>>
>>22188452
Will do, my ESL amiga. Did you "make" that steak or does getting angry on social media over inconsequential nothings not pay nearly as well as you'd hoped and you've no money for it?
Also, I inadvertently lied. I also posted >>22186637/>>22186657
I meant that the ESL comment was my first post in that line of posts.
Have you contributed meaningfully or are you just here to have your period about stuff?

at minimum, pack of clear gelatin, an egg, or a couple slices of cheese. if i have whatever i want on hand, a pack of clear gelatin, an egg, kimchi+kimchi juice, a couple slices of cheese

optional sub kimchi+juice for green onion, cilantro and lime juice
>>
>>22189957
No, seriously, what the hell is "oriental flavour" ramen supposed to be?
>>
>>22187708
Omg looks so good!

>>22191158
That’s really interesting, does it end up a little like a ramen aspic?
>>
>>22186500
dogs wont even eat that but shit skins like you do for some reason, lower than a dog
>>
Buy plain fried noodle blocks, not packaged ramen, at the grocery store.
Put noodles into boiling water, break an egg on top and let it cook in a noodle basket.
Add dehydrated carrots, green onions, seaweed.
Season with chili oil.

>>22191258
Dogs can't eat chocolate either.
>>
my secret is to just buy the more expensive instant noodles because ramen is food for when you're hungry but don't want to spend more than 5 minutes in the kitchen, not food for when you're broke and don't know how to eat frugally.
>>
>>22186637
what the fuck is onion oil? I've been cooking for for 30 years and I've never heard anyone say the words "onion oil" together.
>>
>>22191391
probably oil that's had lots of onions fried in it so it's infused with onion flavor. i've seen them fry lots of leeks and green onions and then put the oil through a strainer, presumably for use later
>>
>>22191391
Google is your friend, cooklet.
>>
>>22186500
I stir ramen with my dick and soak my balls in it before serving it to others. I'm told it has an oniony, nutty flavor.
>>
>>22191419
googling onion oil just comes up with 100 results saying to spray it in your hair. onion oil is not a thing. scallion oil is a thing.
>>
>>22191391
It's >>22191404, my angmo amigo. Pretty much every type of Asian has a variant of it. Most use green onion, my grandma's country used white or yellow, the Straits use shallots, Khmer use garlic chives (the fucking BEST, imo) but everyone slanty Asian uses some variant. The fat/oil changes country to country, too, but the process is exactly as >>22191404 described except for in the Straits where the shallots are fried crisp so their onion oil has a slight bitterness. If you've ever had Indomie, that's the oil packet in there. It's onion oil.
>>
>>22191419
No it’s not
>>
>>22191502
Sorry to hear about your homosexuality. Your parents must be so disappointed.

im just skelly so i end up with leftovers, i dont typically eat it like that. im in meat jelly country though so solidified leftovers i cant be assed to heat up definitely pass for dinner at least once a week and ramen jelly is nice, the more fats you emulsify into the broth with yolks and cheese and whatever makes the jelly consistency soft and spreadable and at room temp it becomes this glossy rich sauce that coats the noods
