Idk how but I just realized I left 55 FUCKING DOLLARS OF GROCERIES in the car at 3AM from like 15 hours ago. It was>ground beef>chicken thigh>chicken breast tenderloins (meant to get chicken breast) the chicken was at least still cold and had a few ice flakes on it>sausageIs this shit just risky to eat or is this basically premeditated food poisoning?FUCK!!!
>>22187032>the chicken was at least still cold and had a few ice flakes on itIf you have a thermometer you could take the temperature of the chicken to see what it's at in the center. If it's only like 40-50F it might still be alright. Sausage and ground beef spoil faster though and I probably wouldn't risk eating that. Sucks but unless you're desperate for food it's probably just not worth it.
>>22187035Yeah fuck me man I'm just dumping it and pulling from my savings to get it back tomorrow. Fuck
>>22187032Probably still good. I ate worse shit when i was a student and never had any issues at all.
>>22187032Eat it, pussy.
>>22187032Based
>>22187032You're gonna freeze it and cook it thoroughly, right? Then what exactly is your worry?Freezing stops all microbiotic activity (but doesn't kill them) and if you then cook it everything that might have been there is killed off. From fully cooled in 15 hours the amount of toxins will be negligible. What of raw meat you don't freeze just cook immediately. Also sausages aren't raw meat.
>>22187077>From fully cooled in 15 hours the amount of toxins will be negligible. If it was left in a hot car it might questionable. 15 hours in a hot car could be long enough for ground meat especially to build up toxic waste products that aren't destroyed by cooking.>Also sausages aren't raw meat. They can be. That's an odd claim.
>>22187072Exactly, one of the items still had ice flakes, ICE. FLAKES.
>>22187032Its a gamble and really depends on how much you dont like having diarrhea
>>22187032For each package, cook a piece and try it, while putting the rest in the freezer. If it tastes off, spit it out. If it doesn't taste off, eat it and see if you get sick.90% of the "food safety!!!" stuff is just paranoid bullshit by lawyers trying to prevent any risk of their clients (restaurants, grocery stores) getting sued.
>>22187440Same reason why even fully cooked frozen meals still have "Cook thoroughly!" on them.
>>22187077Sorry pedro, we dont take these kinds of risks in civilized parts of the world. And no, freezing and cooking doesnt magically turn rotten meat into something edible. Its not how it works. Bacteria eating away into the meat and multiplying exponentially can leave harmful toxins behind that do not die due to cooking, and the meat probably stinks and smells foul.Toss it.
>>22187072>>22187076>>22187085>>22187035Sorry forgot to mention I also had pizza rolls in there which I was damned excited to eat... are those probably better or worse off than the other items?
>>22187032Cook the beef today and you should be fine. It should all be fine if you cook it well. The chicken being cold still reassures me.
>>22187032meat lasts for 24-48 hours without refridgeration.just throw it in the fridge and make sure you cook it to temp.question, why are you posting ugly girls?
I've eaten worse and not gotten sick. Don't be a bitch.
>>22187598those are almost certainly fine
>>22187598if they were frozen they're probably fine. maybe a texture change but i wouldn't expect food poisoning from that. i think they're precooked too so less of an issue.
>>22187921I once had a power outage for about 2 days. I was cooking my pizza rolls in a frying pan.
>>22187032I'm pretty big on "when in doubt, throw it out", but 55 is kind of steep. Luckily raw meat is easy to tell just how bad it is. The smell. It's seriously awful. If you have to put your nose to the meat to even get a whiff of something, it's good. If you can be a few inches away and smell something, and it smells like sulfur or whatever, it's bad. Cooking it smells bad too. The nose knows on this.>>22187598I wouldn't trust the pizza rolls so much though, especially if they've been thawed for long enough. I wouldn't risk a day's trip to the toilet or worse over pizza rolls. Bad pizza rolls do tend to smell a bit off as well though, but usually only after cooked.
