Coil unironically mogs every other stove type
>t. coil haver
>>22189059no shit?
electric coil stoves are one of the best inventions in history
I'm not trying to start an argument but I always thought gas was better. Why do you prefer coils?
>>22189057>t. Heroin junkie
>>22189077no fumes or gas maincheap and piss easy to aquire and maintainfast boillow simmer
>>22189057>pain in the ass to clean>"better"
>>22189096gas will always be cheaper than electricity per calorie
>>22189096I've been cooking on coils so long I forget how to cook on gas. Gas is king when it comes stovetop but electric wins in ovens.
>>22189118gas stoves are worse than the environment
>>22189094I cook my dope in a spoon. But my stove is a coil monstrosity. They suck.
>>22189057Is that why no restaurants ever use them and chefs think they blow? What a sad cope you're making public here, OP.
>>22189197>a bloo bloo restaurants and chefs99% of ck gas poors have 8000 btu stoves with no fume hood
>>22189057Yeah bro I love not having heat control
>>22189271you can take the pan off the burnerthe pan will retain heat and transfer it into the food even after you've turned the gas off
>hmm do I want an unresponsive burner where I have to awkwardly position and plan around the burners to control heat>or a burner where heat can increased or reduced instantly, without having to maneuver the pan around my kitchenI wonder which system is more convenient to cook with. Induction is king for this reason btw
>i'm cooooooiling
great band, but shitty stove
i dont understand why you'd want coils when you could have ceramic topsi'd rather accidentally drop an egg on a flat heating surface than a cumbersome one like that>>22189279as much as i love induction heating, i dont like that many of the stoves use touch based panels for control
>>22189205No. The "poors" don't have gas because you pretty much need to be a homeowner to have it anymore. People in shitty apartments use fucking coils, which is why you're defending them so hard and have made this retardo thread.
>>22189296You're really getting a lot of mileage out of that stupid photo, BMWfaggot. This is your thread, isn't it?
>>22189077coils have variable temperature.natty gas only burns at one temp.
>>22189280*sips* they don't make 'em like they used to
>>22189279induction stovetop fried my smartwatch :(
>>22189057>mogsDoes this mean "objectively worse" or something?
>>22189057Gas hobs are far superior and every chef knows it, which is why all the Americans here prefer coils. Gas is far more controllable, whereas coils are off and on regulated by a thermostat, have you ever seen a Chef use coils for a Wok?
>>22189276Heat retention a pan has nothing to do with the heat source, it's the pan itself. A pan taken off heat will still be hot 30 seconds later, whether it was heated over gas or coils or induction.
>>22189057Glass top is better. Easier to clean, more even heat distribution and always perfectly level in exchange for taking maybe 10sec longer to heat a pan.
>move into house with gas>first time since i left the nest>cook first meal on it>fucking love it>next morning wake up to cook breakfast>get the mokapot ready>even on the smallest burner have to have gas so low flame is pilot light with ambition>cook breakfast>coffee still not done>eat breakfast>coffee still not done>clean up >coffee still not done>put moka pot on skillet and crank the heat>finally get coffee
>>22189723>A pan taken off heat will still be hot 30 seconds laterYou should buy a thin copper pan.
>>22189187And the environment is already pretty bad.
>>22189752That's my point, it's the pan, not the heat source. A copper pan will heat up or cool down quicker, just like a cast iron will take longer to do both, but it doesn't have anything to do with the stove.
>>22189057yeah, just like the saying goes:"now we're cooking with coil"
They used to be not awfulYou can work around any limitation of a certain toolBut now they've limited the wattage on the coilsAnd they have safety devices on the coils that stop the current when they get too hotSo it will literally shut off when you're trying to boil waterThey're now just the lowest cost item a landlord installs in a rental They were ruined because retard tenants kept burning down properties
>>22189782>And they have safety devices on the coils that stop the current when they get too hotIt's called a thermostat and all coils work that way.> literallyOh you kids
>>22189057Why don’t you coil my dick in your ass?
>>22189096>fast boil>compared to gas
>>22189279Why yes, I love my stove to heat up a circle in the middle of my pan while leaving the rest cold, to beep and turn itself off whenever I take my pan off it, and to not be able to maintain a simmer without continuously switching itself off and on.
>>22189724Objectively this. Moved into a house with a glass top and was a switch from my gas GE Cafè 6-burner double oven which I loved. Thought I would hate and resent downgrading to the glass top but quite the opposite. Easy to clean, gets ripping hot very quickly, no fiddly valves, manifolds, or ports to keep clean. Only drawback is the clock and timer contols are very poorly designed.
>>22189801NoLook at new coilsThere's a big wart in the middle of them now. That's the safety The wattages are way down on the coils alsoTheyve ruined them Doesn't matter anywayThey look like shitYou won't find a decent looking one anyway
gas > french top > coals > induction >>>>>>>> microwaves >>>> coils
i would never out gas in my houseits for wagies and outside
>>22189773In my experience copper heats up faster on gas. Probably because of the heat streaming aside that also heats up the rim. Imo it's not that important what you use as long as it's not shitty induction.
>>22189107Just put a cover plate on it?it's still a coil, it's just covered.
>>22189832>being a slave to big gas
>>22189488It burns at low med and high, fool.
>>22189077>I always thought gas was betterIt is. Everyone knows it is. There was never any dispute about it prior to the winter of 2023.
>>22189287Because ceramic turns on and off, whereas coil keeps a constant temperature. It's like an inverter microwave vs normal one.
>>22191212ah - turns out i thought that ceramic ones were like in picreli.e. coils with conductive coveringstill though, why the fuck would one want coils without lids?
>>22189724>>22189819If a glass top burner goes out you're fucked, but you can replace a bad coil pretty easily.
Gas stove tops are the worst. Mine has basically no temperature control. It will boil water on the lowest setting, it just takes a bit longer. It also has severe hot spots and the heat coming up the sides of smaller pots will burn or melt things.
>>22191662>It also has severe hot spotsburners on gas stoves put out even rings of flames. if you have "hot spots" then either your cookware is damaged or of poor quality, or (if the flames are not even) your burners are probably clogged to hell and you should clean them out>and the heat coming up the sides of smaller pots will burn or melt thingsthat's why stoves have different sizes of burners. small pots go on small burners so the flames don't go around the sides
>>221891871: dont care2: retard
>>22189057the cooking range fits the knobs better than induction but I don't know I don't really give a shit
>>22189057Real fire is the best.
>>22189488That is insanely retarded bro.>>22189301>dead reply linkHe got btfoLMFAO
>>22194001And yet Coil Stoves are Better than gas kek cry pussy
>>22194071I think gas kek cry pussy is not that much Worse than coils. It's direct heat and you can change how much flows through the burner.
Flames and combustibles will forever be GOAT for cooking, but the powers that be want electricity renewable or otherwise.picrel is a 12kW commercial grade induction "burner" for woks. Modern problems, modern solutions.
>>22194086frogot pic
>>22194085Coil Stoves get Hotter, Simmer Better, and are more Efficient than gas THOUGH
>>22194086>goatI just stop reading anything anyone says after the presence of ebonics
>>22189057>unironically>mogsKYS
>>22194097One trick pony. You will die a virgin and never own your own cars.
>>22194103Kek delusions of a cooklet tastelet nocar
>>22189187Yeah I hate the environment too. Ted K, what a knucklehead.
I consider myself a moderately serious cook, I've tried this and gas among others and I strongly prefer gas
nah ,but i sure miss this
>>22189057Worst post I've seen all yearBest are induction and gas. Coil is absolute shit
>>22194136highest ive ever been in my life from one of these
>>22194097good to see you
>>22191212Coils run off the exact same circuit design flat tops use because its 1900s tech. Just a bimetalic strip controlling the PWM signal going to the coil or flat top IR coil. Some of the newer flat tops have fancier circuits, but the real electric innovations were introduced with induction, where they FINALLY installed temp sensors and other active controls to help people out. Gas is continuous cooking.Electric is turning on and off. Induction uses whatever fancy controller shit they shipped it with (assuming they didn't cuck you with PWM shit again).
>>22194278same
>>22189057I agree but holy fuck I hate my current one. It came with my apartment and it does some insane shit where it just randomly cycles turning off and on so it's impossible to maintain a high heat and you can't maintain a low simmer either. I complained to my apartment manager thinking it was broken but no that's just how it is built. How the fuck does that work? I hope whoever came up with that concept had an exceptionally shitty life.
>>22194136You can do a hot knife off a gas too dummy
>>22194361there's more than 2 kind of top, smartass
>>22194361coil is better for a knifer cause it keeps the knives clean and free of residue
>>22189279>Induction is king for this reason btwI like induction too but it would be emperor if they could come up with more finely stepped power regulation on the low end, and get fucking rid of the annoying on/off pulsed power regulation on the lowest settings too. Why cant we have an induction hob that lets me choose the number of different power settings and the actual power for each one with an app on my smartphone? Every fucking thing connects to my smart phone, why not an induction hob?
>>22189057Gas lets you instantly change the temperature, electric while convenient retains heat. No one here is cooking to a level where temperature control would play a role though
>>22189122>Gas is king when it comes stovetop but electric wins in ovens.YES
>>22189057yeah...i spent close to a decade with gas and while i liked it, the new place i moved into has coils and i like it much better. takes longer to heat up sure but the temperature control is far superior, you can actually have things at a simmer without burning, and the whole pan gets an even heat vs. just where the flame is.>>22189724glass is dogshit. less than dogshit. and have fun cleaning it afterward lmao.
>>22195357>No one here is cooking to a level where temperature control would play a role thoughIf you're into sauces and ragouts it matters.
>>22195358I rarely ever use my ove and have never used gas, but I have heard from knowledgeable sources that gas oven are actually amazing for baking because of the moisture that gas generates during the combustion process.
>>22195419>sauces and ragoutsi prefer regular gout
