The ones I have now are all junk and dont cut lid off correctly anymore. Looking to get one of amazon. Any suggestions?
>>22189240This used to be considered comically unattractive
>>22189240i wouldn't bother. they're all cheap chinese made garbage. besides a cutting edge will dull eventually and it's not like you can resharpen it. just buy the cheapest $4 can opener and replace it every 1-2 years. better than spending $40 on some hipster made in germany can opener and having that crap out after 5 years.
I got an OXO smooth edge can opener, the one that actually releases the seal instead cutting through the metal, about a year ago and love it - haven't had any issues with it. I don't know how it's not just standard by now; even the electric ones just absolutely suck in comparison.
Did you guys know you're supposed to use can openers horizontally, not vertically? They work much better horizontally where the opener cuts into the side of the can, not the lid.
>>22189256it's giving katy perry
>>22189283I might try that next time.

>>22189240Go the military option if you're not bothered by some minor effort.Simple, compact, works well with practice and will last decades.
>>22189240where is the family?
>>22189240you can call it your "can't opener" and make millions
can opener? I BARELY EVEN KNOW 'ER HAHHAHOI
>>22189283I always remember this halfway through opening a can>>22189370It definitely works
How long do cans of beans last, FOR REAL? I know the whole deal is they're supposed to last through the apocalypse but I got some beans in 2020 during covid panic shopping and I'm afraid to eat em now
>>22189919they have a date on them.contrary to popular belief, canned goods are accurately dated so you don't die trying to open them after the date when they explode like a grenade from fermentation pressure.hundreds of thousands of deaths per year due to people not reading numbers.

>>22189240My kitchenaid one has lasted awhile but who knows if quality has been maintained (or improved?).I have a pizza cutter from them i think but the middle bolt part thing it rotates around got pretty rusty over time but the wheel cutter part is perfect.
>>22189374i need one with wifi capability for easy overclocking
>>22190135I'm looking at >>22190135, I'm looking. It's pouring out.
I got this one from Sainsbury's.It works perfectly, the single star is a load of fucking bullshit.
>>22189240OP. dude get on ebay and buy a can opener from the 1960's.I dont even use a can opener that much, after going through two in two fucking years (walmart bullshit), i said alright whats the fucking deal here?!trust me man, buy one from ther 1950's-60's off ebay. it might be a little bit expensive but you'll never have to buy another one again. Ive adopted a new mind set...."buy it nice or buy it twice"take heed to my words brother, I wouldnt steer you wrong.
>>22190289NO. don't do it OP>>22190261Gay, don't do it. >>22189597based and not gay,>>22189475this looks promising, simple. but if there are any plastic components i would 100% avoid.
>>22189240Come to think of it I haven't seen cans without a pull ring in quite some time, at least here in the eu
>>22190695>but if there are any plastic components i would 100% avoid.it's $1. if it break you can pay $1 to get another. who cares
I got really fucking fed up with my can opener and bought this. It's great. Big ol fucking handles, bottle opener I will never use but it just werks. Maybe a little overpriced but I'll probably have it forever
Used to work in a restaurant and these little guys are unironically the best can opener I've ever used.. the Super Kim Nogent. Serviceable and has a lifetime warranty
>>22190726
>>22189240Getcha one of these bad boys installed and you'll never have to replace it again.
>>22190742Yeah, try putting that in the kitchen and not having your wife constantly complain about how it makes "her kitchen" look ugly. Maybe if you're single, sure.
I recently bought picrel (goodcook mini can opener) to keep at work, ended up buying a second for home. It just works so simply and well once you get the hang of it and it does not rely on a sharp edge or anything so will never go dull, it is very dull but turning the wheel forces it through the lid for you. A slightly larger version would be nice but other than that it seems the perfect can opener. They cost like $2.
>>22190752Just tell her it's all the rage right now. All the other women are doing it, ect.
>>22189240OXO is always a safe bet.>>22189475Based HEB poster. I got one of those some time ago just to see how well it would hold up and it's held up quite well. Their garlic press is the only garlic press I like more than OXO's although the handles aren't as nice.
>>22190772OXO is my go to usually for kitchen gizmos. Not like pans and stuff but just the little things like pepper mills or peelers. They're solid
>>22190712so, you are getting them for a dollar? doubt it, even if you are it breaks all the time...then you have to take time out of you4 bucks at least. r life to by a new one. maybe youanyway i stan or yd by my statement. our cat/dog/gf didnt eat that night because it broke. headache, headache, headache.get on ebay and buy a nice one. trust me bro.
>>22189240Seriously? Go to a flea market and get a forty or fifty year old one. Maybe take the time to sharpen the cutting wheel, but probably not.
>>22189240>19brother, its as simple as this. buy a steel one off ebay from the 50'a-60's. you'll never have to buy another one again. :) case closed.
>>22190799>so, you are getting them for a dollar? doubt itMy guy he posted the site of the store that's selling the item at that price.>https://www.heb.com/product-detail/our-goods-3-way-can-opener/10824088Are you drunk or what?
>>22190809eat shit and die nigger
>>22190773For me, Unicorn is the way to go for pepper mills. I'm with you on the peelers and other gizmos, I've given lots of older family members OXO peelers and suddenly carrots aren't a pain in the ass anymore.>>22190813Or what, then.
>>22190813>"Eat shit and the niggers"Great book title
>>22190813may you once day find inner peace so that you may experience joy once more
>>22189597>Will last decadesMost people lose it within 5 years so close enough. I have handed out more than a couple dozen as gifts. People loved it better than those mechanical shitty ones that make it hard to hold the bite on the can.
>>22189919Traditionally most canned goods cannot be trusted after 5 years even in good storage conditions. You might get lucky if they are good currently however check for top cap bubbling and smells when opening. Dried goods can last longer but even preppers will advise never to trust any food item aside from salt(its a rock) longer than 5 years.
