ATTN Germans, spice your spicy cookies properly, this is a disgrace.
>>22189796>not buying the og
>>22189828THAT'S the real one.The irreplacable classic. Especially for Christmas.Get this one, OP.I'm not surprised that once again the brand one has been enshittified. >Line must go up, if we reduce cinnamon content further, we could save 0.2 cent per cookie...
>>22189828>>22189838alright I will buy this lateryou better not be telling LIES or ELSE
>>22189847That's the classic. It's on the market for ages. Everybody associates it with christmas and childhood. The brand is not known for anything else afaik, never used advertising and just sticks with the shitty early 90s design. They either rely on those points or just don't give a fuck. Both are sympathetic imo.
>>22189849>The brand is not known for anything else afaik, never used advertising and just sticks with the shitty early 90s design.Word of mouth. They know THEY are the Spekulatius. Traded over genrations at Christmas. Kids will find them on their plate, they will be the memory associated with that and when they are adults which Spekulatius will they buy for their kids I wonder...That's also why they for all that is holy should never replace the iconic and burned into so many memories cover design. Immediate recognizability, never ever change it.
>>22189849>The brand is not known for anything elseTheir whole lineup looks like something made exclusively for old people. The caramel cookie might be worth trying.
My grandma (born in Germany) always had these around Christmas...she called them "Windmill cookies"...so delicious. I forget which brand she got, but all the American brands I have tried since aren't as good
>>22189828i can only eat those when its really cold outsideand then ill eat half a bag
Hilariously bad imitation of the original https://keplite.com/the-snap-of-belgian-speculoos/
>>22190199>Their whole lineup looks like something made exclusively for old peopleThat's exactly what my grandparents would buy. Old people are the only ones left still eating dry ass biscuits anyways.
>>22190246>cinnamon is replaced with cassia barkCeylon does not leave any meaningful flavor after baking and calling cassia "cassia bark" as if ceylon isn't bark as well completes the whole ignorant wanker package.
>>22190311This is an example of a lesbian with anger management issues because of the unabating penis envy.
>>22190314it's a mangina tho
>>22190314yikes anon, just cause your little brain can't produce any valid counterpoint doesn't mean you get to start hissing and spitting insults!where's your tardwrangler at? they got some wrangling to do
>>22190318I just pointed out some deep-seated sapphic rage. Nothing about your bark is to do with me, lesbonic anon.
>>22189828>>22189838>>22189849Alright, I return, sans 1.69€ in my pockets (I actually ended up buying a bunch more Christmas-y stuff as well but that's not relevant). They don't taste any different from discounter brand cookies (e.g. "Douceur"), and they are sold for exactly the same amount in basically the same packaging, so I suspect Borggreve manufactures those as well. Not to say they are bad, but I would like some more flavor. Maybe I'll try spicing them up myself.
>>22190351meh
>>22190351>>22190380Stiftung Warentest once made a testing of acrylamid traces in christmas biscuits. While Borggreve also produces for discounters their products had different levels of it. So they probably have slightly different recipes.
>>22190453Maybe they were told to bake them longer to increase shelf life.. but that would result in a different weight. The packages are the same as far as I can tell. Maybe the cookie count varies.
>>22190351Are they better than Bahlsen tho?Considering they are already the kinda no-name one and they are not particularly expensive I'm not sure if they would then even sell "double no-name" packaged ones. But maybe even tho they are the classic being delivered to basically every store everywhere they have overproduction that they needed to get rid off.You could check the production location tag if the store provides it and not the generic "Produced for: xxx" one since there apparently is only one factory, so it should be identical.
>>22190509I got some more and conducted a MASSIVE test>Borggreve same as yesterday!>Coppenrathslightly less dry and slightly more flavorful but this is only really noticeable if you chase it with a Borggreve. Same price but 400g. >BahlsenIt's a butter cookie in funny shapes. Fuck them for the shitty packaging tho. Two fiddy and 200g. Shameless!Maybe Wicklein would be worth trying but they charge double the Bahlsen price. Also I didn't even see any "Gewürz" variant.
>>22192096Nice clips
>>22192096So going forward would you go Coppenrath or is it just not better enough to justify paying as much for less?
>>22192919I got a speculoos spice mix and will try to coat the cookies myself. Idk if I should use an egg wash or some butter based spread yet.
