I got a bulk bag of Halloween themed bouncy balls back in June, 100 for $1.12 as well as a bunch of glow bracelets, fidget toys, rolls of stickers and more. We're actually expecting molds today from Amazon to make homemade crayons we may or may not give out for Halloween, depending how it turns out. Also recently ordered a few 22pc spirograph sets for 77¢ each to give away to particular kids we're expecting. We're that house. Anyway, you can give out small toys instead of candy and younger kids go absolutely nuts over them. They're usually meant for kids with allergies (teal is the colour of allergy awareness) but we give them out to whoever and we got enough small toys for cheap that we'll probably have many for this year and next

Halloween as a national holiday is dying as many people have noticed. Twenty years ago there were always so many kids trick or treating that I always run out of candy. Neighbors would set up elaborate decorations, trick or treaters wouldn't stop coming until at least 10 and the whole neighborhood was alive with people and noise and merriment. Within the past decade the trick or treaters have slowed way down, the neighbors don't bother with elaborate decorations because there's no need, I never run out of candy, and the trick or treating stops by 8. It's kind of sad to see it die. It's nothing like it was in the 90s and 2000s.
