Shut up, fanny.
>>
>>22191978
its because every restaurant i go to undercooks them so you have cripsy outside and cold uncooked inside. at home i buy and make steak fries when i'm feeling it
>>
>>22191756
plus, I can’t even tell what that is the egg is sitting on top of. whatever it is almost certainly does NOT belong
>>
>>22192328
i was looking at that this morning too. some kind of frittata maybe?
>>
I've never had British beans. Are they really that good compared to how everyone else makes beans?
>>
>>22192358
that’s my best guess too. what kind of twisted maniac burns the fuck out of a frittata and then tops it with an egg. some british form of the The Joker is responsible for this.
>>
>>22192360
They all eat Heinz Beanz. it’s basically Spaghettios with beans instead of pasta.
>>
>>22192366
half the traditional plate is missing too like the other anon mentioned. my guess is the pic is taken at some midwest US diner or something selling their take on an english breakfast

>>
>>22192366
You think British know what a frittata is?
>>
>>22191726
So what you should do is go somewhere where they cook chips correctly. It's very rare that I get an undercooked traditional chip.
>>
They really just eat charred tomatoes and mushrooms just as is next to their ketchup beans and soggy toast. A full English breakfast seems absolutely dastardly.
>>
I miss black pudding from Ireland so bad I could cry. I imagine they have it there too.
>>
>>22192366
It's bubble and squeak. Potatoes, cabbage and onion mixed and fried.
>>
>>22192360
They're like 60% tomato sauce, with the beans really just providing texture.
>>
I do love me some black pudding. But then I'm Polish and we eat black sausage too. No idea why it never made its way to America.
>>
Don't say you wouldn't, because you would
>>
>>22192424
You are all wrong. I obtained British Heinz beans from a sprawling "foreign" section of a downtown Chicago Mariano's. They are markedly better than any canned baked beans they sell statewide. First of all, they are not as atrociously sweet. Second, they have a tomato-y tanginess to them. While it's not something to die for, I would recommend them if you can ever get your hands on the authentic Heinz beans from England.

In parts of Northern England they do this.

Many years ago I visited my in-laws in Nottingham and offered to cook Sunday Lunch, they got a bit pissy with me because I didn't do mash.

Can't say I'm impressed with this either >>22193870 Roasties look ok but the carrots and cauliflower are boiled to fuck and as for the peas in the Yorkie???

maybe british food wouldn't have such a bad reputation if boomers and gen Xers weren't complaining about foreign restaurants on social media. for example a spanish restaurant opens and they complain about "what's wrong with british food", "we should champion british food instead", etc. a food festival is being advertised and they're like "bet there won't be british food there", ah yes because a fucking paella will stop people from wanting a roast dinner or a full English.
they genuinely act like fucking jellied eels is better than the cuisine of every country in the world. boomer/gen x brits are the type to go to the other side of the planet only to go to a pub and order chips. say what you will about Americans but I've never seen them complain about foreign food
>>
>british food is so bad they have to steal from pajeets
>>

>>
>>22197023
This is all true. But it also doesn't help that no matter what Brits do, Brits are the meme country in regards to food. There is no solution other than accepting being British comes with ridicule.
>>
>>22191751
I'm pretty sure this is just banter on part of Astrerix being French.
>>
>>22197023
The only Americans who do complain about foreign foods are sheltered people who grew up in small towns and contrarians. A lot of Americans like all sorts of different cuisines. However, i will say as an American, if the cuisine is heavily reliant on organ meats or has a lot of overly spicy flavors, Americans dont really care for it generally.
The only cuisine that ive tried which i thought nearly everything sucked was Ethiopian.Other than that, i can find something i like in almost any cuisine.

>Brits are finally starting to make AU/NZ style pies
Took you long enough
>>
british food is trash nobody really enjoys soggy, greasy fried fish and potatoes soaked in granny's douche liquid or pies full of canned dogfood meat
>>
>>22197718
>AU/NZ style pies
what makes them AU/NZ style? compared to the meat pies the British have been making for centuries before migrating to AU & NZ
>>
>>22197723
>what makes them AU/NZ style?
Completely different.
Very different pastry, unlimited variety of fillings.
Hot pies are absolutely everywhere, every corner store, every gas station, every bakery, every supermarket and competition is fierce so over decades it's driven it into a completely different realm.
Picrelated is just the average bakery near where I'm working, and within 1km they're competing with at least 16 other locations that sell hot pies.
Ask any tradie where to get the best pies in the city, and they can immediately name a dozen stores without blinking.
People say our National dish is Fish&Chips, but I would argue that hot pies are sold at 20x more locations 24/7/365 for a reason.
>>
>>22197751
It's so pervasive that fucking McDonalds sells pies
>>
>>22197718
>Brits are finally starting to make AU/NZ style pies
Are you having a laugh?
The Brits have been making top quality pies for centuries.
AUS/NZ pies are quite a new thing, is this some sort of D&C thing?
>>
>>22197723
>compared to the meat pies the British have been making for centuries
British pies have a really dense pastry, almost biscuit-like, and you only use one type of pastry for the whole pie. Most British pies are family pies the size of a casserole dish.
We use 2 pastries, the base is a short pastry that's rolled into layers with more butter than normal short so it's softer and lighter, the top is a flaky pastry that splits and crisps up on the top but still seals underneath.
The Brits have very few fillings and it's often quite runny, like just putting a stew inside pastry. Steak and Ale, Steak and Kidney or just Pork. You put it on a plate with Mashed Potatoes and Peas and eat it with a knife and fork, so a runny filling is fine. Our pies are consumed in a car, at work, at a bus stop etc, so it's thick and creamy. We'll also put anything in a pie; Pulled Pork watercress and applesauce, Italian Meatballs and Cheese, Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Steak Jalapeno and cheese, chicken cranberry and brie, steak mushroom and bacon, "all-day-breakfast" which is a Full English in a pie, Venison, Kangaroo, Mussels, Lamb etc etc

Same as British pies

Oh shit . . . .I just looked at the rest of your post and realised every line is just absolute bollocks.

This has to be a D&C post . . . . .somebody tried to make a few UK vs Aus threads a couple of weeks ago.

Keep talking crap kid.

>AUS/NZ pies are quite a new thing, is this some sort of D&C thing?
Not new at all. Most of our cuisine is British, but for whatever reason we latched onto pies and ran with it.
We have Fish and Chips but you can't get a takeaway container for lunch like in the UK. We have some sausage rolls and on the rare occasion you might find a pastie but pies have completely dominated.

>Keep talking crap kid.
Here's your National award winning "Meat Pie" mate, good one.

I don't know why you are doing this D&C shit?

If you are on the other side of the planet, then that's the best you can get but don't try and compare British Pies with Aussie pies, we have much more experience than you, enjoy what you have but stop trying to compete.
It's futile.

no? theres plenty of single portion pies
>We'll also put anything in a pie; Pulled Pork watercress and applesauce, Italian Meatballs and Cheese, Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Steak Jalapeno and cheese, chicken cranberry and brie, steak mushroom and bacon, "all-day-breakfast" which is a Full English in a pie, Venison, Kangaroo, Mussels, Lamb etc etc
we also put pretty much anything in pies

you could argue that pasties/bakes/slices have taken over
>>22197844
>I think you're just proving my point, you can get one anywhere.
same is true for Britain and its pies/pasties/bakes/slices. every town has a bakery that sells a range of them, a supermarket that sells ready to eat cold, hot and baked in store or to be cooked at home, and a greggs in every highstreet
>>
>>22197869
>but don't try and compare British Pies with Aussie pies, we have much more experience than you
i still refuse to see the difference, and they dont have more experience, they have the same experience because migrants just took pie technology with them
>>
>>22197881
You're missing the point . . . . .it's the D&C that I am pissed off about.
>>
>>22197878
>you could argue that pasties/bakes/slices have taken over
Looks like it, your picrelated is something I've never seen before.

>>22197890
>it's the D&C that I am pissed off about.
It's all in your head, if you think we're completely divided because pies have evolved differently over 200 years on the other side of the planet, I don't know what to tell you. I never even claimed one was better than the other, just that they're different.
>>
>>22197928
>It's all in your head,
Stop gaslighting . . .explain this?>>22197794
>>
>>22197939

I detailed my view of the differences, and instead of replying with UK examples like >>22197878 did, you threw a tantrum and started talking about D&C like a lunatic.

If you must know, my favourite British dish is my Mum's Christmas Trifle.
I would say a classic British Roast, but we had that every Sunday Lunch after church so it seems more mundane than the Trifle only once a year
