In Washington, Apple picking season starts ~today. You can go pick apples and they’re quite cheap and good, and it’s a nice fall activity. Different types are available at different times and orchards. Because apples are so heavy and big and easy to pick you can get more than you can eat in 15 minutes. You can make really good applesauce from picked apples in a slow cooker with very low effort, it is like a totally different food from canned stuff from the store (it’s like the difference between canned peaches vs fresh, or banana flavored candy vs real bananas etc) if you’re not near an orchard, homemade apple sauce with good apples (honeycrisp are one of my faves) from the grocery store are still quite good
