>>22196407I swear by the grocery store chooks. They're always delicious and such a joy to add to soups, salads, mix into chicken salad. I like to dice them up and mix with mayo and fry up the seasoned skin until it's crispy and use it to garnish. Delicioso
>>22196407I just eat them with my bare hands like a deranged king
>>22196410don't forget the tomatoes
>>22196409Chicken salad looks great, care to share the recipee
>>22196412Usually I add very finely diced onyo and celery just for a secret fresh crunch, and a few chopped up capers can be nice too, but in this case it was just chicken, mayo, and a good dusting of chicken salt (or chicken seasoning if your country doesn't decree that chicken salt be in every room in the house). It was astounding how much that seasoning elevated the whole thing.
>>22196407>takes 10min to break downwhat are you a toddler? it takes 30 seconds at most.
>>22196418i like to get all the bits.
>>22196418I thought he meant emotionally but yeah if it's just turning it from a carcass into food it's no more than tree fiddy
The only downside is that they’re cooked in plastic.
>>22196410I sometimes do that when I have time off. I'll get a rotisserie chicken and a few big beers and watch stupid movies and demolish the chicken with my hands.
>>22196427>buys a rotisserie chicken for the first time>sees the eyes of god, enters psychotic tranceits happened to us all
>>22196436They're cooked on a rotisserie, retard. They're stored in plastic, like everything else.
>tfw you're dishing out the meat and keep all the dark meat bits for yourselfThe best part is the oysters on the bottom, those are for me and me only
>>22196407they don't leave organs in a rotisserie chicken
>>22196967everything this anon says is true
>>22196407I avoided these chickens out of a misplaced sense of culinary honour but now I too see that they are nutritious and delicious and convenient. Basically always have one in the fridge now instead of roasting my own. Far healthier than cold cuts but I cannot stay away from mortadella and salami and prosciutto for long desu Another good way to make chicken for batch cooking is the zero minute method in the instant pot, you get perfectly poached chicken and a very rich stock for zero effort. >>22196409>>22196415Looks good, I usually add some diced gherkins or pickled onion for the sweet and salty element. I like to spice it up sometimes and make a coronation chicken salad by adding some curry powder and chopped dried apricots. Another great salad recipe is Vietnamese style chicken salad with cabbage and mint and fish sauce. Perfect for summer but it needs fresh herbs.
>>22196409>DeliciosoThis nigga got starbys
>wastes two hours driving to Costco, dealing with the parking lot, pushing through the crowds, standing in line to checkout, dealing with the parking lot again, driving homeNot really a bargain.
>>22196407>Harvest the breasts>Throw everything elseI like rotisserie chicken, but I only eat chicken breasts, everything else is yucky.
>>22196407Totally agree. Buy one for $5-6 depending on Costco or Walmart or local place whatever, shred it, and eat it with whatevery I want for the next few days. Chicken soup, chicken sandwich, chicken tacos, hell I even used it on one of those cheese take and bake pizzas with some bbq sauce, onion, and spinach for a sort of bbq chicken pizza. The weirdest thing to be is that where I live, these rotissere chickens are always cheaper per lb than uncooked whole chickens. Walmart even does it by weight, so sometimes I get a smaller one for $3-4 if know I dont need too much.
>>22196979some of us still live in a first-world country anon. I walk 20mins to the nearest shopping centre and I can buy whatever clothes I might need, weekend booze, toiletries and medicine, hit the baker and the butcher, and get into three different supermarkets for whatever I need and whatever I prefer to buy and then I can sit and eat a few plates of sushi or relax at one of the cafes for a cuppa. Whether or not I buy a roast chook in the process is kind of irrelevant but I can buy one if I feel like it as I pass by.
>>22197003Not sure what that anon is on about. We have all that in Canada, too. I was just in Abbotsford and they even have a Costco.
>>22196979Milk from USA is twice as expensive now
>>22196411>don't forget the tomatoesDon't forget to always salt your tomatoes...
>>22196436The thing is they're not.
>>22196940>thrown in a bag at 180 degrees celsius>sits under heat lamps for hours>totally normal and not leeched plasticizers straight into your already microscopic testiclesjust cook your own ffs, they're way juicier too
>>22196407the difference in quality between stores is offputting. i had one from groger that tasted like nothing. it was so huge and wet i have to imagine it was morbidly obese and got injected with 30% broth solution at the processing plant. absolutely no flavor at all. water chicken.now i get smaller ones from better stores.
>>22196407mmmmmmmmmm microblastics...
>>22197003i havent been to a shopping centre in nearly 2 decades. i live in the south east suburbs of melbourne so doing what you describe isnt comfy because of all the black people (i include indians in that denomination now) around. but if i lived somewhere where everyone was aussie, or at least white, then thatd be a very comfy experience. always used to love hanging out at the shops when i was young.
>>22197003What does that have to do with the price advantage of shopping at Costco for chicken? That's the topic of this thread, not whatever urban hive you crammed yourself into in Kitchener.
>>22196407>>buy for less than a pound of coldcutsYes, bug roast chicken is like 40% bones so you're paying for trash.
>>22197529Anon wss complaining about the cost/value of the chicken and his particular qualm was with the time and inconvenience involved. I was sharing my perspective on that perspective.
>>22196994They are loss leaders a lot of the time. Priced to get you to come get one regularly so you shop other shit in the store. Whole raw chicken typically runs $1.69/lb or so, sometimes $2 for "organic" labeling. If they are cooking the dregs of the chicken delivery, they are basically selling the chickens "at cost", since they are already brined and wagies just shove them on the spike for the oven. Personally I prefer mine smoked, so I always get mine raw and cook em on the weekend. That is how you get giblets and crap if you like that kind of thing. >>22197188Yep that is a thing. And it's gonna be worse the bigger the chicken because ((they)) will corner cut to the max.
be real with me bros, ive never had one of those supermarket chickens, are there any bad things about them that people havent mentioned in this thread?
>>22197562That makes sense.Man, I wish I had a smoker. Would love a whole smoked chicken to eat over the weekend. Do you use any seasoning or anything like that?No room in my apartment, but will be buying a house soon and I am going to try my hand at building one of those brick ones for the fun of it.
>>22197568not really. it's a seasoned roasted chicken and that's what you get. no surprises, no chinese scams.
>>22197661seasoned with what exactly? just salt and pepper? what other ingredients are there if any? i dont want to be eating any vegetable oil shit. sorry to be pedantic but i dont trust supermarkets anymore especially not here in australia and ive been wanting to try a supermarket roast chicken
