I don’t get the hate for fruitcake. I get one of the liquor soaked ones for myself and my close friends every year and they all seem to like it. Are you man enough to admit it’s the superior holiday treat?
I've heard that hate for fruitcake because there was once a huge market for mail order fruitcakes, and suppliers made too many and ended up with a surplus that would sit around for years, then people would end up with shitty stale fruitcake.Personally I fucking love the stuff. Look forward to it every year.

Then comedians started making jokes about them, at which point lots of people who had never even heard of fruit cake before joined in on the hate. Many people have never had good quality fruit cake and never will. Changing the ingredients a bit and using a different name probably would help with getting people to at least try it.
