I've never done it before. Last time I killed something was smashing a rabbit with a shovel because my dog was tearing it apart and I needed to put it out of its misery. >They definitely suffer
Incorrect ofc. Seafood has spent its entire evolutionary track living in water at a constant, never-varying temperature, so their sense systems, such as they are, are tuned to only experience a 2-3 degree F temperature variance of the typical depths at which they have lived for countless aeons. Taking a crab out of 50 degree water and dropping it into 212 would be like dropping a mammal on the Sun. Are mammals even capable of experiencing 10k degrees or would they simply just die?

I appreciate you took time to educate that troll, but it's pointless. They argue for the sake of arguing. There are two types of retards, both think in black & white and are unable to form opinions different than their respective extremes. They're unable to understand fundamental differences between species and their capabilities. Sea food is a collection of various, edible species, but one thing they have in common are the very simple nervous systems which don't point to them even being able to feel pain. Rather, their neurons are supposed to elicit quick movement in response, as a way to dodge their predators. There really isn't much else except simple instructions, just a bit more complex than various insects. I don't see how is it even a topic. I could fully understand if we were talking about chinks generally murdering everything slowly, including dogs and other mammals, because they believe suffering before death makes the food filled with energy and vitamins. Those animal welfare concern trolls would get a heart attack if they went on a trip there. Chinks would boil the water alive if they could.

>Their body's not being destroyed until after they're cooked (long dead)

No but it is human. We are the ultimate apex creatures on this planet to the point we have left the food chain in 99.99999999% of the time. Every other creature on this planet, predator and prey. Die screaming in agony, starving to death, brought down by sickness, and in the very lucky cases. Struck by lightning or fall off a cliff to a painless death. We do what we want because we can and every animal on this Earth is under our domain. Under or influence. We are the masters of life and death on this planet and if a crab must boil alive to make it a fraction more tasty or safe to eat. So fucking be it. It is our right.
>>
Friendly reminder that all the creatures put on this Earth are beasts of burden made to serve us humans. Dogs, cats, horses... everything except humans do not have a soul. There is no such thing as animal rights as any pain or pleasure is inconsequential in the eyes of The Lord. Treating animals the same as people is blasphemous and is a growing sign of a great ill in society.

In the Bible, “dominion” over animals is generally presented as authority with responsibility, not as permission for arbitrary cruelty.

In Genesis 1:26–28, humanity is given “dominion” over other living creatures. The Hebrew word often translated “dominion” (radah) can describe rule or governance. The important context is that humans are made “in the image of God,” so human rule is ideally supposed to reflect God’s own kind of rule rather than mere exploitation.

Several other passages help clarify what that means:

Genesis 2:15 says humanity is placed in the garden “to work it and keep it.” That adds a theme of care and preservation alongside authority.
Proverbs 12:10 says, “The righteous care for the needs of their animals.” This is probably one of the clearest statements that humane treatment of animals is a moral concern.
Deuteronomy 25:4 commands, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Even a working animal is not to be deprived of the food immediately around it.
Exodus 23:4–5 requires a person to help even an enemy’s lost or overburdened animal.
Deuteronomy 22:6–7 restricts taking both a mother bird and her young, apparently placing limits on complete exploitation of an animal population.
Exodus 20:10 includes livestock in the Sabbath rest. Animals, as well as human workers, are given relief from continual labor.
Jonah 4:11 ends with God expressing concern not only for the people of Nineveh but also for its “many animals.”
Jesus says that God notices even the death of a sparrow (Matthew 10:29), suggesting that animals have value to God apart from their usefulness to humans.
>>
>>22207121
Crustaceans do not have brains like vertebrates do. Stabbing them in the head paralyzes them, but they're still alive and fully capable of experiencing pain.
Ironically, boiling them alive is probably the fastest and most humane way to kill one, since you have to destroy all of their neural ganglia at once, and short of smashing them under a hydraulic press it's hard to beat submerging them in boiling water for that.
In any case, any method you use to dispatch a crab or lobster will cause less suffering than it being ripped apart by a rival or slowly digested alive inside the stomach of a fish. Nature is cruel, only man cares.
>>
>>22208622
Hamsters are so horrifically inbred that they often just spaz out and die for no reason.
A lot of people have tried to come up with justifications for why hamsters sometimes just eat their own offspring when the actual answer is that her own father and mother, even if they were from breeders in completely different states, were more consanguinous than full blood siblings in the wild.
>>
>>22210934
>and short of smashing them under a hydraulic press
Electrical stunning tanks are being used more when possible now. That does actually destroy everything at once.

I still have some doubts about claims that just tossing them into boiling water is more humane though. I understand the reasoning behind that claim, but cutting the head in half is still destroying the main ganglia considered the closest equivalent to a brain. It clearly shuts down a lot of processes in an instant unlike going whole into boiling water.

Why not kill it and boil it right after? I will never understand this
>>
>>22211239
Because of the problem with their nervous system.
They have a step ladder system of small ganglions aka mini-brains. Nobody really knows if detroying their head ganglion really kills them or makes them unconscious enough to feel no pain.
Hence truly boiling water to quickly kill every ganglion at once which conveniently is also the cooking method.. Probably even better would be an ultra hot steamer, but how many people have such a device? Alternative sth like electro shock which apparently now is the method that is coming.
