I spent $50 on spices to make butter chicken. Probably the tastiest thing I've ever cooked.
>>
>>22211202
what spices?
>>
>>22211205
Garam masala, Kashmiri chili powder, kasuri methi, turmeric, cumin, coriander powder, garlic, ginger.
>>
>>22211210
Where the fuck do you live? All that that shit is 25$ max. And the spices are enough for 20 meals
>>
>>22211236
I got bulk sizes for most of them. I'm going to be eating a lot of butter chicken in the next year.

I'm terrible at cooking, though I wish I could cook, which is why I come here sometimes. Not including just seasoning chicken wings or things like that, the last thing I actually tried to cook was a vegetable soup, it came out thin and tasteless. That was about a whole year ago.

>>22211202
Looks delicious, I love butter chicken.

>>22211314
I've never had chilli but I would try this.
>>
>>22211353
Thanks for the compliment on my chili. I used to be like you or not able to cook, but practice makes perfect. Highly recommend analyzing videos like myself and create your own.

You Americans and your 'Butter Chicken' . .
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

If my hair was longer, I would be tearing it out in clumps, it's clear you have no idea what real Butter Chicken is.

Your spices are just generic spices but you are missing so many ingredients. I have made decent butter chicken on a few occasions and it can get rather expensive, so I don't make it that much.
I can clearly see you never cooked using Ghee . . .where is the Butter? . . . . where is the Cream/Yoghurt . . . no powdered almonds? Your sauce is too thin and it's a weird colour.

It's nice you try these things anon but for heavens sake, don't think for one minute that Americans know how to do this.
>>
>>22211422
It's not "butter chicken" it's "buddurr chicken"
>>
>>22211426
And by doing it badly and missing important ingredients, they impwoved it?
>>
>>22211431
They probably think so. Is there ever any other way.
>>
>>22211422
>I can clearly see you never cooked using Ghee
I did use ghee.
>where is the Butter?
I threw in a fat knob of butter at the end of cooking the chicken.
>where is the Cream/Yoghurt
The chicken was marinated in yogurt, and there is cream in the gravy.
>no powdered almonds?
I used cashews.
>Your sauce is too thin and it's a weird colour.
I guess that's subjective, it was pretty similar to what I've had in Indian restaurants.
>It's nice you try these things anon but for heavens sake, don't think for one minute that Americans know how to do this.
I don't know why you're making this some weird national insecurity thing little bro. I found a recipe online and the author was a jeet lady. The measurements were metric so I don't think she is even American.

>>22211202
$50 is absurd but it looks super good.... was it worth it
>>
>>22211457
The only Indian restaurant in my town charges $18 for a tiny bowl of this stuff, and now I can make it at least a dozen more times for the price of the chicken, yogurt, and ghee/butter, so yeah, I'd say it was worth it. I just have to make it a lot before the spices lose their potency. But I don't think that will be an issue. I love butter chicken.
>>
>>22211469

Buying bulk from an Indian store is the way to go. Those faggy little schwarz/mccormic containers are very overpriced.
>Garlic and ginger
Freeze root ginger if you don't already. You can microplane it straight from the freezer for most uses and it lasts forever. I don't even peel it.
>>
>>22211512
Yeah I'll have to check it out. I'm kinda nervous to go into ethnic stores as a white boy. I know they probably won't judge me and will be happy to take my money. But it still kinda weirds me out for some reason.
>>

>Buying bulk from an Indian store is the way to go. Those faggy little schwarz/mccormic containers are very overpriced.
But then you're locked in to using those spices.
Yes you pay more per unit with those little bottles, but you're probably spending less overall.

Its lamb, the potatoes were very bad, my usual guy didnt have potatoes so i bought em from another place
>>
>>22213167
Lamb is my favourite meat and I don't care what anybody says, chewing lamb fat is great.

I'm a Brit but your Lamb doesn't look British, we don't usually French trim the bone, so I am guessing southern europe?
>>
>>22211577
>But then you're locked in to using those spices
You can use cumin, coriander, and red chili for lots of things. The whole spices last for years, and the "ground spices go bad quick" thing is overstated. I think I got packets of whole cardamom, nutmeg, cumin, and clove from an Indian store like 5 years ago and am only just on the verge of running out.
>>22211540
Just watch out for the fresh produce, they do tend to stock out of date stuff. Less gross Asian stores like Hmart also have a decent Indian spice section.
>>
>>22213196
I've bought spices from asian places before, they don't 'go bad' as such, they just lose their potency and flavour.
>>
>>22213194
I love lamb and the fat, I also made soup and that fat you see in the pan, i took some of it and made rice. Yes i'm sort of in southeast europe, that how the butcher gave it to mee and it contracted a bit from the cooking, i cooked it for 4 hours on 150C
>>
>>22213196
>Just watch out for the fresh produce, they do tend to stock out of date stuff.
on the contrary I've found that the produce at smaller independent asian stores is much fresher. probably because asian housewives go through hundreds of pounds of fresh produce every week somehow. meanwhile every bunch of cilantro at the groger is slimy

as somebody who sucks hose water when it comes to poaching eggs I have seen this method of steaming them meme'd and I am purchasing a tea strainer so I can try it out myself. the trick is to make sure the water is boiling before you put the egg in otherwise it'll slow seep through, but as long as there's hot steam it'll start cooking and seal itself up right away

Should try to make your own garam masala next time if you already bought bulk spices, although if you also got bulk garam masala then I guess not. Don't have to stick to butter chicken though, Indian food is diverse enough to enjoy their spices in many things. Make some bbq with it, use it in other stews, mediterranean or levant stuff

I made some cookies. The thickness is roughly 1/2" so sorta thick compared to a 1cm cookie, something like 3-3.5" diameter. Very soft, fluffy, moist, and chewy (not raw-chewy either) but not really cakey so quite good imo. Might try out one or two more things next but will move onto choc chip in the cookie future.

I made it after watching a few YouTube shorts, it's basically a rice pilaf with carrots and lamb. I've seen other people use beans, onions and I think tomatoes? The gimmick is that having a whole garlic clove on top is supposed to aromatic the whole dish (it does) but it's traditionally made in big pots to feed multiple steppe villagers, so a little does a lot.

>>22222011
Do you ferment the cabbage yourself?
>>
>>22222864
This one no, it's too early and hot in my country but every year at the beginning of November I do about 30kg along with other veggies like carrots, cucumbers, cauliflower, celeriac. I'm saying it's too hot because the Balkan method is fermenting them slowly in cold weather and keeping them cold so they stay crispy and "fresh" during winter - I keep em on my balcony.

looks good although next time make dirty rice as the side, and when you do make the dirty rice crumble up some andouille sausage (if available) into it for maximum dirty

I didn't have shrimp shells so I put in powdered shrimp from an Asian supermarket. Also I browned the flour in the oven. I found that was too much flour compared to the rest of the ingredients.

They don't have andouille sausage in the uk, sadly.

>. Anyone want some?
Depends how it tastes.
It does look a bit flat to me, don't know why but it just does.
And why don't you get some of those cheap plastic containers and save portions in the freezer? saves you eating the same thing every night just because you made a large amount.

Chinese chicken thighs (from the youtube of that old chinese fuck). The marinade was - oyster sauce, soy sauce, ginger, salt, sugar, cornstarch, xiaoxing wine. Quite satisfied with the result, but it took a while.

Pan seared basa filets.
Coated the filets in oregano, salt, pepper
Cooked in garlic butter, 4 mins on medium high both sides.
Cut off heat, finished with soy, vinegar, lemon juice.

Google ai gave me this recipe. Fish came out undercooked. Cunt. Flavour was great though.

how, I cook mine for 4-5 mins as well on a lower heat

Thicker fillets?
My entire fillet (one side of the fish) was 330g with the ice glaze.
Crust was nice and golden, middle felt a bit undercooked. Maybe basa tastes like that? It was my first time cooking fish.

My bad, I thought I read Bass as in Sea Bass. I've never had catfish desu, next time just cook it 2 mins more, seems like you were just at the cusp of cooking it how you like it.

This is legit something I eat 2 times a week and its healthy too. I love to have a lot of volume in my food because I am always hungry and try to stay lean and healthy.

400gr baked Haikido pumkin (just throw 1 whole pumpkin in your oven at 200 celcius for 40 minutes and then afterwards remove the seeds, you can keep this in a container in the fridge for more then a week)
200gr romain lettuce
200gr baked lean ground beef (spicy smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper and salt seasoning)
100gr grilled onion in from the airfryer
80gr sweet sour pickles
half of a avocado diced
100gr cherry tomatoes

Saus (sort of):
100gr non-fat greek yoghurt
15gr mustard
40gr low calories ketchup
pickle juice
seasoned with salt, garlic powder and smoked paprika.

just mix everything all together and you have a legit delicious slop bowl that is extremely filling and low in calories. Yeah it looks like shit but its the taste that counts.

Curry and rice, I haven't made curry in a good while.
