It’s crawfish season. Anyone indulge in crawfish?
I had em but I don't get the appeal, there's so little meat you'd have to eat like 400 of them and they just taste like whatever you boiled them in. Better use of time would be mussels or clams or hell just get some actual crab or lobster.
could you puree these little guys into a bisque and just eat them as a soup? I'd love to eat some crawfish paste on a cracker or a big piece of celery.
When I was little we used catch them with our hands and cook them up along with what ever else we found to eat so we would not have to go home to eat lunch. Usually would have them with hazelnuts and apples, sometimes lobster mushrooms but those were kind of a pain to deal with our limited in the woods cooking setup, but they are plentiful and easy to find at this time of year. >>22212424Sure.
>>22212413we call them crayfish where i'm from
>>22212413>. Anyone indulge in crawfish?Freshwater Crayfish aren't a big thing in Britain, we didn't many anyhow. But someone introduced American Crayfish, which carries a disease and kills ours, they are classed as an invasive species and damage the riverbanks.River authorities do trap the American ones but they can't be sold live (incase they get released into other rivers) so they are sold cooked, mainly to places like Sweden.
>>22212419 you’re totally right, this was the first time I had them and you do get so little meat from there it’s mental. Not cheap either
>>22212431Interesting

>>22212515>every single thingreally?
>>22212413the fact that they really aren't fishy really sticks in my craw
>>22212538I don't know any euro shithole countries apart from eastern europe or the balkans, even then I have never noticed flags. Maybe OPs crawfish just returned from a Swedish crawfish patriot march?
>>22212542Why lie like this what's your endgame? If you go to a euro restaurant there will be little plastic flags in the food anyone can easily look that up
>>22212483We call them crawmommies here
>>22212413Cajun here. I'm horrified at the thought of what you people would do to a crawfish. And crawfish season isn't for another 6 months.

>>22212612>what you people would do to a crawfishWe just boil them with salt, sugar and a fuckton of dill. And we serve them with quiche made with the worlds greatest cheese and plenty of beer and spiced vodka.Crayfish is mostly an excuse to get roaring drunk.
>>22212784how many fucking whippets did you guys hit before you decided alcoholic quiche is the proper pairing for crawfish

>>22212542True, patriotic Swedish meal is surströmming. You're not a real Swede if you can't fully inhale the delicious aroma when opening the can and eating at least half of it.
>>22213127I feel like more cu/ck/s could handle it if they just imagined the smell was a brap from their favourite v-tuber or asmongold
>>22213127>True, patriotic Swedish meal is surströmming.I'm not a Swede.I'm a Brit but like Jellied eels they are not eaten by everyday people, they only eaten by a handful of enthusiasts and tourists for reaction videos.
