So I got one of these. Now how do I cook it?Specifically, I wanna make a pile of pulled pork that I can throw into quesadillas whenever I want some. I'm figuring on tearing it apart and throwing it into ziploc bags and freezing them.Google says 275F for 6-8 hours, but won't it get dried out? Is six hours already too long?Should I wrap it in foil? Would the acidity of the pepper marinade dissolve the aluminum if I did that?If I cook it for a shorter time at a higher temperature would that keep it moist?
>>22220969>So I got one of thesepost a timestamped picture of it, then I'll help you.
>>22220969>Google says 275F for 6-8 hours, but won't it get dried out?No, pork butt is a fatty cut of meat. Just put the fat layer on top and it will baste itself as it cooks.>If I cook it for a shorter time at a higher temperature would that keep it moist? That will ruin it and actually make it dry out. Cook a pork butt low and slow to maximize tenderness.
use a pressure cooker
>>22221136>post a timestamped picture of it, then I'll help you.He can't. These "I bought something but have no idea how to cook it" threads are fake engagement farming bullshit. Nobody is retarded enough to buy something that they don't know how to cook.
>>22220969Huh, so is it shoulder or butt?
>>22221172You've got to be the most retarded poster on /ck/.Yes I bought it without knowing how to cook it, because I figured I'd ask you guys.
>>22221158Thanks, I'll look to see if it even has a fat cap on it.>>22221168Wish I had one, I wanted to buy an Instant Pot but never got around to it.>>22221182kek at picIt's both, the "Boston butt" cut is from the pig's shoulder. IDK why they called it a "butt". Maybe just to differentiate it from "ham" which is generally brined until it's inedible.
>>22221189I got a Farberware 6 quart pressure cooker from Walmart earlier this week, only cost $40.
>>22221187>Yes I bought itpost a timestamped picture of it
>>22220969This thread again. Yet another low effort parody thread.
>>22221205I literally bought the thing because of the other thread. If that one hadn't gone to archive, I would have posted in it instead.
>>22221251>I literally bought the thingpost a timestamped picture of it
>>22221263Post a timestamped picture of your dick first.
>>22221321this is a blue board. just admit you're a liar and you have no pork.
>>22220969is this you? >>22210365
>>22220969I got one too. Dont worry about cooking it for a long time. Just listen to >>22221158And you'll be set. Different cuts of meat cook differently.
>>22221189Animals got four legs, so even their shoulders are a butt.
>>22221358That's why I wanted you to post a picture of your dick, so you'd get banned. Do it, faggot.
>>22221560No, that was the previous thread that I mentioned I would have posted in if it hadn't fallen off the board. I didn't start that one, I bought the pork thing after reading that one.
>>22221172I do that all the time, but then I look up recipes for it. Keeps me on my toes
>>22221192That thing will explode, killing you violently in your own home.
>>22221802>I bought the pork thingcould you post a timestamped picture of it?
>>22221824nah
>>22221876Don't say I didn't warn you
>>22221932Modern pressure cookers have multiple safety features and backup safety features to prevent accidents. It's just a matter of using them properly.
>>22221198this
>>22221933I'll use a cooking appliance that doesn't require safety features thank you very much
>>22221933Yeah, but I'm saying specifically the cheapest walmart tier product will kill you.
>>22221937nah
>>22221940Don't say I didn't warn you
>>22221944I don't think walmart is in the habit of selling exploding pots and pans
>>22221948>pots and pans'cept it's not a pot or a pan. it's a pressure cooker that requires a high degree of precision engineering and quality materials.and yes it is Walmart. They have the legal team to quash any incident.
>>22221954It's a Farberware, which is a manufacturer of cookware. I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing, and so do I for that matter.
>>22221934>>22221869If you keep the thread active until Halloween, I will.
>>22222222checking
>>22222456how much are they paying you?
>>22222513I'm retired, nobody pays me shit any more.
OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCKI put it in the oven an hour ago at 285F but I just realized I didn't add any water to the baking dish -- it's a fake-pyrex glass dish. Can I add boiling water to it and not shatter it? It's probably a 90F differential considering taking the water off the stove before adding it.I wrapped the whole thing tightly in foil so it won't dry out as much as if it were open, but it'll still dry out.FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
>>22224193post a timestamped picture of it so i can see what kind of situation you're in, to better advise you.
>>22224247You niggers have been almost zero help throughout this entire ordeal.
>>22224193So it turns out I didn't need to worry about watering it. When I pulled the pan out of the oven, it was full nearly to the brim with oil and water. Some of it slopped out onto the bottom of the oven, and I'll have to clean that today.IDK if the pork would have been any better if more hydrated. Whatever mix Swift smeared it with, it's so salty that it's more like a ham than a pork roast. Overall I think these things are overrated and that it's better to buy a plain pork roast and then season it with whatever you want.
>>22224881>thinks he needs to add water to a pork butt>cooks at 285 in an oven>pre-seasoned>wrapped during the entire cook>complains that it's badGet the fuck out cooklet, stick to fast food, or better yet, try eating a bullet. Pork butt is delicious and you are a faggot.
bumping until octoer 31 so we can get pix
>>22221944You were right, it exploded and I died. Why didn't you warn me?
>>22221182Lost
>>22220969I bought one because of the other thread myself, imma toss it on my smoker
>>22226545ha told you so
>>22226679if you post your pics before the OP does you'll get all the glory and yous
>>22220969i bought bone broth, poured the amount on the cooking instructions into a slow cooker with fat cap facing up like it says and let it do its thing
>>22221158This anon is right but I just pressure cook em with 3 cups of water in the bottom, 2.5 hrs. Then just mush it up for pulled pork goodness.
