She lived off one dollar and 50 cents a day on a vegan diet for 5 days. she only got about 1800 calories a day but if she did 3 dollars a day I’m sure she would have been fine.

I buy tofu all the time because it's like 3 dollars for a huge block of it and 1 block is a whole days worth of protein. I am not vegetarian or vegan however I just do it because I enjoy it and it's cheap. I also enjoy whole grain porridges.

It is if you want a decent amount of protein in your diet. Vegetarian protein comes with a ton of carbs, so if you want to meet your protein requirements without eating 3000 calories worth of carbs, you need to eat refined/isolated/processed protein, which tends to be more expensive.

TVP is not expensive , is vegan and is very low in carbs. Also has vitamins and minerals
