Steak dinner for only $2why doesn't everyone do this ?
>>22224351I fucking hate meals that are just smaller portions of the entree + sides. Why is everyone so obsessed with "sides"? Just give me an actually filling portion of one food.
>>22224353It's a friggin complete steak dinner with mashed potatoes and corn for 2 bucks and your complaining ?
>>22224351There's no way that only costs $2. What year/area is that price from?
>>22224669
>>22224715But mine says one dollar and thirty eight cents
>>22224669I stand corrected it is actually less than$2 >>22224715
>>22224353The mega meals variety fixed this issue. Got rid of the stupid corn and dessert.
>>22224351I hate that they always add corn to this shit. Fucking ruined.
>>22224813People think they're eating healthy because corn is a vegetable in these frozen dinners
>>22224351>>22224356>350 caloriesa bowl of plain oatmeal is 300 calories. how are the calories so low? if you ate 6 of these a day you'd still lose weight. that is not a meal.
>>22224351Because the BBQ pork one is better.
>>22224353>an actually filling portion of one foodhere's your dinner, bro.
>>22224819>cornanon...
>>22224890I like corn, sue me.
>>22224902>I like cornMe too, love it.Ignore this dumbo >>22224890
>>22224351I'll take the bait I guess...It's Salisbury Steak. More like meatloaf, or a fancy burger patty. Not an actual steak.
>>22226527It's just a patty that has been eaten in Europe since the Middle Ages but true to form, The Americans claim to have 'invented' it and even edited wikipedia to prove it?? Many such tales.
>>22226530You are correct, and while I didn't know that, I'm not at all surprised that it was done way before the US did it. But it's still not a "steak."
>>22226530The meat grinder was invented in the 1800's, before that best you got was finely chopped meat. I'm not saying americans invented this, but medieval europe did not eat salisbury-equivalent meals
Spending the 2 bucks at McDonald’s or Taco Bell at least provides a small hit of dopamine as opposed to getting one of these and getting 2 bucks worth of depression
These use to be a dollar. That was a real bargain. You could just take it out and plate it for your drunk gf and she'd eat it all up. Not sure if it's worth 2 dollars now. Maybe if it's on sale.
>>22226562>but medieval europe did not eat salisbury-equivalent mealsOh but they did.Inventing a meat grinder (a German by the way) was just a convenience, these patties were made long before this.Hey . . .who remembers George Washington Carver - the American who 'invented' peanut butter? . . . . . . due to persistent pressure from historians, Americans had to admit that he didn't invent it at all and things have had to be re-written.Nice little American story story about the invention of the potato chip (George Crum including a nice little invention story) . . .. but that's Bullshit as well, a British cookbook over half a century earlier describes deep fried shavings of potato and in recent months wikipedia has been forced to acknowledge this. There are many such stories of Americans claiming to invent things, only to be caught out (albeit reluctantly) years later and this doesn't just apply to food items either. It's just so tiresome.
>>22226574>Hey . . .who remembers George Washington Carver - the American who 'invented' peanut butter? Is there proof this was treated as an official fact? I remember people talking about everything he did with peanuts but joking that he DIDN'T invent peanut butter. If some people believed he did then it seems like it was just a misunderstanding. You also have people thinking that the Earl of Sandwich invented the sandwich food rather than just popularizing it with a name. It's not specific to Americans trying to claim everything but it's funny how you're reacting to it.
>>22226574You realize that a thing can be original to you, but you might not be the first one to invent it? You're grandstanding a little. >>22226562You ever finally chop meat, anon? 1/8" dice is nearly indistinguishable from 1/8" grind, I've used both for burgers regularly.
>>22226588You are coping and to be honest you are probably just old enough to see when the tide was changing, previous to that, it was FACT. > popularizing it with a name. This is what Americans do but claim it as their own.Pretty much everything in the USA was 'invented' by immigrants? Haven't you ever stopped to think that these foodstuffs weren't already popular in their home countries?Let that sink in.
>>22224817If you ate 6 of those you'd get 270% of the daily value of sodium, 6240mg.
>>22226611>You are copingNot really. I just wanted to see actual evidence of people saying it was taught as a fact rather than people just claiming it happened. > Haven't you ever stopped to think that these foodstuffs weren't already popular in their home countries?Well yeah it should've been obvious that people who had peanuts for thousands of years probably tried mashing them into a paste just like Europeans did with hazelnuts.
>>22224790>>22224351>>22224669>11.88 oz10 years ago that used to be 16oz
>>22226611Not him, I'm 55 and literally ALWAYS heard that he did not invent peanut butter. You're full of shit.
>>22226624Yeah that was always kind of a running joke here too, didn't realize foreigners took it to heart. Even Carver himself never he said he invented it.
>>22224817>6 of these a dayyou would lose all your weight when you die from hypertension
>>22224351Op here I ate another one today it's really not that badIf you were in jail this would be a 5 star steak dinner
>>22226621i dont think that's correct. hungry man's whole thing was that it was a "a full pound" of food, because it was competing with smaller dinners like Banquet.
>>22227251He's not correct, 10 years ago or so when they were only 88 cents they were smaller, then they advertised they'd soon have 20% more food and the price jumped up to around $1.25
>>22224351i don't live in burgerland. they cost at least twice as much here.
>>22227342would you eat it for 2 bucks all the time
>>22224351>made with chicken, beef, and porkDios mio imagine the abomination who would eat this abomination
>>22224351Just the fact that the food cooks in a plastic tray is a turn off. Also this >>22227356
>>22227356>>22227380It's a steak dinner for only$2 with sides
On god and on gang, this has never been topped
>>22227420I wish it was fish but i'm pretty sure that's chicken. I never saw anyone make chicken look that much like fish than in those.
>>22227380You're eating the food scraps that got mopped up off the factory floor and thrown together with some edible glue
>>22227410salisbury steak is not real steak. its a fancy hamburger patty or "hamburg steak" for japanese weebs.
>>22227801You should try out for Jeopardy, we all thought it was a New York Strip steak
>>22224351$1.87Welp, I know what I’m getting on my next trip to Walmart.
>>22227801>its a fancy hamburger pattyIt's not even fancy, it's just a patty. B..b..b..but we impwoved it
>>22227799No, dumb fuck... You're trying to make it sound bad, but what it actually is sounds bad enough: it's called "rework." No glue is required because meat tends to stick to itself. Google it, you might learn something, and you might not eat processed meat again, either.
>>22224351man, I...man, I don't know about this
>>22227884Well in the US a hamburger patty is just beef, not chicken, pork, and beef like the one this thread is about.
>>22227902>Well in the US a hamburger patty is just beef, not chicken, pork, and beef like the one this thread is about. That's not trueIt's just that this particular brand is low quality.
>>22227910Yeah well go make a different thread about that brand and how much it costs.
>>22226588This.
>>22227884This is that weird boy who spazzed out over peanut butter yesterday
>>22227834
>>22227865*Well
>>22227917>Yeah well go make a different thread about that brandOh, make another brand threadWe are not all shallow americans who worship franchises and corporations
>>22227900horrific
>>22227925https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/welp
>>22224351these used to be less than a fucking dollar and thicker. shit is peak over rice.t. 90s poorman
>>22227351yes
>>22224351That's a nice snack.
>>22224819oh man one time when I was super poor I bought like eight of those on a sale and bought a pack of long roll buns, the sandwich kind? with the sesame seeds on the outside? Made my own mcribs? damn that shit was actually so fucking rad now that I recollect. Musta been like 2009.
>>22227799meat glue isn't actual glue moron, it's an enzyme that causes meat to stick to itself by making the proteins curl together. It's a fantastic invention that feeds so many fucking people, have some basic respect.
>>22228059>meat and gravy over riceMy man, now we're talking. A sprinkle of curry powder? that ain't a bad meal when money's tight.
>>22224351I can entertain this. What I usually do is warm up the meal, then transfer to skillet. then experiment with a oil and seasoning, I can usually get something decent if not outright delicious, and strangely unique. It's like how frozen pizzas are a different food than actual pizza, but not cheap tasting. That's the same hack too, coat in olive oil, add garlic, broil.
