The shells on these are extremely tough and caused me permanent gum damage (acute periodontitis) because a piece got jammed between my teeth so hard I couldn't pick it or floss it for about a week until it finally softened up. I will never eat these again even though they are delicious
>>
Seeds are for birds so this doesn't affect me
>>

cool story
>>
>>22224551
you're supposed to peel them. i never did back when i ate them semi-regularly, but you're supposed to.
something like what you describe has happened to me, but usually it takes me about half an hour to work it out.
>>

Mine got stuck in a way where it was deep so a pick couldn't fit and the shell was sharp so it instantly cut floss in half every single time. A water pick might have gotten it but I don't have one and didn't think it would literally destroy my gum and never heal

>The shells on these are extremely tough
What's your IQ and why did you try to eat extremely tough shells?
>>
>>22224616
>what's your IQ
Never tested but I'd safely assume average or above average
>why did you try to eat tough shells
Fiber and they taste better than just eating the seeds alone
>>
>>22224551
Just open it carefully with your molars then spit out the outer layer.
>>
>>22224644
I have to floss 4-5 times per day now just to keep the hole in my gum from getting worse so I'm good on ever eating them again carefully or otherwise
>>
>>22224551
You need to bake them longer, retard.
>>
>>22224551
That sucks about the gum damage, have you seen a dentist about it? I like the Trader Joe’s pumpkin seeds because the shell is easy to chew so I just eat the seeds whole
>>
>>22225755
>have you seen a dentist about it?
No but after further scientific research it's probably not periodontitis but just detached the gum from between the teeth it was attached to so maybe after a scraping it will have a chance to reattach or not I don't know
>>
>>22224551
What a chewlet.
>>
>>22224598
No you don't have to do this, you just have to roast them in oil, long enough that they soften.
>>
>>22225873
when did this happen? did you just cut your gum today and go down an obsessive self-diagnosis rabbit hole and convince yourself you have permanent gum damage?
>>
>>22225873
see a licensed professional you dumbass
>>
>>22225899
>>
>>22224598
you do have to do this
the outer shell contains some kind of toxin
and the inner meat contains a near adaptogen medicine
>>
>>22224598
There are varieties of pumpkin that grow seeds without the hull, just grow those ones
>>
>>22224551
Phh ohhh pphhhhhh phhhhhh phhhhhhhhh
>>
I eat pumpkin seeds almost every day. I'll never stop.
