If you add multiple ingredients to a hot dog, is it now a sub sandwich instead?
>>22224854Uh, yes? Did you not learn that from your curriculum when you were a boy?
a hot dog becomes a sub sandwich only when the fundamental organizing principle of the dish changes. If the sausage is sliced up, supplemented with multiple meats, redistributed throughout a larger roll, covered in cheese and vegetables, and generally treated as one sandwich filling among several rather than the central sovereign ingredient, then perhaps—perhaps—we may begin discussing whether the object has crossed the Rubicon into sub territory. But merely adding toppings does not accomplish this.
>>22224854no, it's still a hot dog and a hot dog is still a sandwich.in order for it to be a sub sandwich you'd need a sub roll and you would need more than one dog in the roll.
>>22224854On the one hand I feel like the answer is yes, but in the other hand if I put a weiner on a sub sandwich it doesn’t immediately become a hot dog
>>22224873thanks chatgpt
>>22224873I would argue an intact bare hotdog in a bun is still a submarine sandwich on a fundamental level. I reject your criteria that meat must be sliced and distributed to meet the definition of a sub on the grounds that a meaball sub is, in fact, a sub. A hotdog IS a meatball in cylinder form. If you try arguing a meatball sub is a sub because there are multiple meat balls rather than a single you can go straight to hell.
>>22224854Depends on how far you go, I suppose. Add enough shit and you've basically got an open-face sandwich that can't be closed anyway.
>>22224854I like stuff on hotdogs and now, you've got me wondering what a hotdog sub would taste like..
>>22227756>A hotdog IS a meatball in cylinder formMore like a bologna.tube.
not much 'sub with you :3c
