🎉 Happy Birthday 4chan! 🎉

I'm not a huge stickler, but I've been doing my best to cut out any plastic residue in my house, even stuff like microfiber clothing.
And I never liked plastic cutting boards, all the ones I can see online are not great, but does anyone have any recommendations for wooden ones ? What do you guys use personally
Help a sperg out please, my ocd is killing me and the shitty dollar store one I got moulded somehow and I'm so stressed out
>>
get one that's very thick or has the slats vertical instead of horizontal

the wood jew conspires to sell you horizontal boards that warp in 3-5 months, just after amazon.com return window closes

Japanese rubber boards are superior to end grain wooden boards.

They are still made with plastic materials. I can't handle using them man, they stress me out so bad. I have to use one everyday at work and I feel my anxiety spike.
>>
>>22225378
What are you afraid of
>>
>>22225389
Micro plastics... I have an anxiety disorder man, I just want to be as healthy as I can be and avoid plastics if I can.
>>
>>22225369
I didn't know there were men stupid enough to pluck their eyebrows out. I thought only women did that.

Oh alright. Well I can recommend Winco wooden cutting boards on Amazon. Winco/Update/Vollrath are all commercial kitchen supply vendors that make quality stuff meant for daily abuse. Winco cutting boards are hefty and sturdy, I highly recommend them. I have an 18" and 12" one.

Incidentally, I will also suggest you educate yourself on microplastics from a reputable source, they're not a new phenomena and have been around since plastic materials began to be commercialized (see DuPont 1930s). I am not saying they're benign but their risk to health is not as detrimental as, for example, daily alcohol consumption or excess sugar intake. Educate yourself as to what exactly you are afraid of, what's the worst thing you imagine will happen to you, then assess the risk to you from there. Certainly, living in a constant state of fear and anxiety will prove to be detrimental to your health.

Admitted Schizo/Mentally Ill thread. Just use stainless steel. Doesn't get and clean and more pure than that. I thought trolling was against the rules of this board OP. Shame on you.

>Certainly, living in a constant state of fear and anxiety will prove to be detrimental to your health.
It does, but I fear what the SSRI will do to my brain long term and considering it gives you brain damage, I refuse to take them. I just can't deal with the stress they give me too from that fact. Fuck Zoloft. My life sucks and I wish I could be a normgroid and not have this problem
I know they're not new, and in everything you consume, but that's why I just figure it's in my best bet to do what I can. I'm buying a better product usually too by avoiding anything with unnecessary plastics.
All plastic fibers are shitty material for clothing, but I will admit that they make soft blankets too. Have you ever worn something polyester and really think, wow this is nice ? No, of course not.
>>22225409
I considered glass too, but then I use my cutting board so much it just seems like more work always having to sharpen and hone my knives. You won't make me feel bad for having a mental condition, there's a reason you're here too.
>>
>>22225378
have you considered therapy and medication? your schizoid paranoia is ruining your life.
>>
>>22225445
How does therapy help me in my situation, it doesn't even make sense
How does a 43 year old woman telling me that washing my hands isn't that important actually in the kitchen when you deal with raw food (it is) bad actually and you don't need to curb your impulse.
How does therapy fix this, and find me something for anxiety that doesn't melt your brain
Spoiler, it doesn't exist
>>
>>22225453
Have you considered being extremely racist and having thoughts like "this happens to niggers only". ?
You need to have some barriers in your brain to safeguard it
I propose that you buy a board thats just thick as fuck, actual slab of wood, prefferably made by some dude who knows how to work wood (no homo)
>>
>>22225453
You're so confident that you cannot be helped. Why not be confident that you can be helped? What reasons have you invented for yourself

Despite being white with blue eyes, I know my family is brown deep down and if not for one family member who I do not know, I too would be brown. I have a heart too kind to be truly racist or hateful. I've seen how racism hurts my family, and friends who I love. I couldn't do it
It's why I even like culinary, for others and the happiness of them.
I ordered a fat ass winco anyways
>>22225572
Because my anxiety is common sense, around cleanliness. I'm still dirty but in the sense that it only harms me and not others. I am better but in the actual work place I cannot stop my feelings

Also I'd just rather have wood chips in my mouth than plastic.
If all food safety courses fully endorse my neuroticism, how is it wrong
>>
>>22225587
I'm the guy that recommended the Winco. I am not this guy and would never suggest to anyone to perpetuate separation. This is me >>22225572, but it is irrelevant.

You're neuroticism stems from a feeling of powerlessness and a need to control your environment. I am very clean and I understand your point of view, to some degree I was like that in the past but that behavior ultimately didn't really serve me well. I am still clean but I accept somethings are beyond my control, and that's ok. Food safety courses do not endorse neuroticism but rather record keeping to, ultimately, prevent litigation and loss of business. Record keeping does not have to be expressed in a neurotic way, although some people might choose to do so. The point is, they way you conduct yourself is a choice based on whatever you believe or hold to be true
>>
>>22225420
OP I've been down the same mental road as you, I was really disheartened when I realized how much of our modern lifestyle involves consuming plastic, which the effect of longterm is not totally understood. Like you said, you do what you can and focus on making small improvements when possible. Just don't let it start dictating your life.

We are all brown deep down. And red, white, grey, yellow, black and a sort of mustardy brown colour.

Appreciate it lol. With the cutting board, some of it was just my own OCD (diagnosed lmao) and just, since I moved out in April, I got a cheap one and it moulded like after 10 uses and the one my mom had for 7 years hasn't. So I figured it was just a quality thing + then me not liking plastic. So I figured I'd ask here for a recommendation to what everyone else uses.
My OCD probably does stem from a huge lack of control in my life, but to rectify those feelings, I got no clue how to fix it lol.
Although I suppose you do have some merit to, you don't need to always be 100% clean but it still seems really fucked up and gross to sneeze on your hand then not wash it.
How can you do that and not feel disgusted ?

Regardless, my issues with plastic too are also just a quality thing, they break a lot faster and last not as long as metals, glass or wood. So it's just me also trying to make my purchases meaningful. And plastic is anything but durable on average compared to the former.

sounds like what you want is a butchers block, not a cutting board. wood cutting boards are too thin and won't last long. I would suggest looking for a local source, since amazon/etc. is just going to be mostly overpriced boards of scrap pieces glued together. you may be able to find butcher block countertop scraps from local hardware stores for a cheap price.
>>
>>22225369
I have one very similar to pic related. Not sure if the same brand since ive owned it for so long now.

Its made of olive wood and has lasted me a number of years without cracking. I sometimes put linenseed oil on it.
>>
>>22225389
Plastic :(
Plastic japan :)
>>
>>22225369
The first thing you need to understand about about wood cutting boards is that you will be consuming glue flakes and wood dust. The best adhesives are carcinogenic, and while scrupulous manufacturers in litigious western countries might opt for something approved for food contact, the approval only covers leeching into food through contact, not eating the actual cutting board. Hopefully the wood is from a pristine Appalachian forest and not a toxic hellscape like China/India/Africa. I'm neurotic about microplastics and even I accept HDPE cutting boards that are easily sanitized in the dishwasher. Anything you eat that has been even somewhat processed in a commercial environment has had plenty of contact with plastic already anyway.
>>
>>22226161
Something like this seems the best option. I would want to fabricate 4-5 pegs on it also so it is not flush with the counter, which is prone to getting wet and will contribute to warping overtime if water is not able to drip down onto it

>invents imaginary woman and imaginary scenario to justify their self-admitted mental illness
untreated OCD results in a dramatic decrease in quality of life and has a fairly high likelihood of suicide later in life. you already admit you have mental disorders. if you dont want to die in misery you need to stop making excuses and get help. you can get a male therapist since it seems like you have incel tendencies.

>How does therapy help me in my situation
Everyone deals with things that are stressful to them in life, and many times these are things that are reasonable to be stressed about. But you are so fucking weak mentally that the stress you deal with overwhelms you, to the point of perseverate on it on an Indonesian basket-weaving forum.
Therapy does actually help people that are genuinely willing to try, but most people prefer wallowing in their problems over fixing them as you are doing in this thread.

Just use hardened silicone if you cannot tolerate rubber products made from rubber tree.

Silicone is inert and doesn't do the micro plastics thing

Could you temporarily chop stuff on some paper towels until you find a suitable chopping board?

>I will admit that they make soft blankets too
If you’re trying to avoid polyester and want a nice blanket I found that a good cotton cover filled with wool is very soft and warming. I bought the wool myself and I think I put 4 or 5 pounds in. Did the same with pillows (3 pounds of wool inside a cotton zip cover) and they’re the best pillows I’ve ever used.
>>
>>22227191
Actually I’m misremembering on the blanket, I bought that one stuffed with wool from IKEA, wool stuffed bed topper (and the pillows) are the ones I assembled

If you look at testing cheap rubber cutting boards dull knives faster than plastic and wood cutting boards. The good Japanese ones keep knives sharp for longer than any other cutting board. In this case you absolutely get what you pay for. Sorry this fact hurts you so very badly.
>>
>>22227217
what if i just sharpen my knife whenever it get dull
>>
>>22227220
Not the point, especially when some cheap rubber cutting boards dull knives extremely quickly.

>>22225409
ive only ever seen boomers like my dad go apeshit over plastic fibres in clothes but he only ever criticise my army clothes and the 1 t-shirt i already threw away years ago because it was old and worn out. he can't recognise that his "tailor-made" pants are full of plastic fibres. every single one of them. almost every single roll of thread in his sewing box is made of plastics and he still won't throw it out.

such schizos and boomers should be shot by BigOil or sent to die on japanese mountains(the trad way to deal with oldbies).

>>22225369
according to some bacteria research on cutting boards made like 20 yrs ago.... wood actually contains microorgasms that kill most of the bacteria on woodens, so scientifically they SHOULD be le best. i still hate them because they get moldy real fast in warm cunts like mine.

ceramic boards are second best. they don't kill bacteria, but they spread them all over the surface. as long as you wash it all off after use, it's fine.

plastics however seem to be hotbeds for bacteria. they actually grow faster on plastics. uncertain why. most likely it's just 'cause plastics get cuts and cracks easily, and those cracks are good hosts for bacteria. but somehow the "good" microorgasms that grow on wood, do not grow on plastics.
>>
>>22225391
you are already so full of plastic. it circulates with your blood, rattles around your lungs, punches holes in your brain. it is to late for you buddy.
