Why is it always onions? Is there not anything else that pairs with liver?
>>
>>22239304
Best white man's meal ever.
>>22239306
Mushrooms, black pepper (course ground), fennel seeds, thyme (powdered).

I've never had good liver.
Yes, it's because it was overcooked.
But I just can't bring myself to spend money on it.

When I visited egypt , they ate liver in these sandwishes with green and red peppers.
They were so fucking cheap, something like 30 US cents. Tasted okay but not the best thing I had. Locals joked that it was stray dogs livers.

No

The British were doing it before the Germans/Austrians.
>>
>>22239304
Bird livers- chicken/duck are good
Beef liver suck and I won't try the rest.
>>
>>22240066
The Germans were cooking schnitzel. The Austrian baked it in an oven.

And the Brits fried it.
Now it get confusing.

Liver, butter, bacon, garlic and onions.

You probably come from the country that invented nothing but pretended they did.
>>
>>22239304
I remember liver being served covered in oats when I was at school.
Liver, bacon. carrots, cabbage, peas, gravy and the most horrific over salted mashed potatoes served with an ice-cream scoop.

Any Brits remember this?
>>

>The Austrian baked it in an oven

Hmm, I'm not sure I buy that one. You're telling me the Austrian, with fifteen ovens working twenty four hours a day every day for five years was able to bake a full six million schnitzels in that time frame? It just doesn't seem physically possible!

I've never had liver, but I really like pate. How similar is it in taste? What's the texture like?
>>
>>22240154
Pate is much more mild and buttery. That irony flavor of pate is basically on full display and it's got a lot more chew.

Pretty much this. That texture is so... livery. And there's people out there who eat that mess raw. The only way to win with liver is to have it German braunschweiger style and even that's kinda gross. Still better than either meat snot or crumbly seasoned mud chunk.
>>
>>22240193
>Is there a sauce I can pair it with to make it less dry?
Liver is dry only if you overcook it. Liver should always be served medium or medium well. Otherwise it becomes dry and crumbly.
>>
My family sometimes makes fun of me for liking liver and onions, they say it makes me seem like an old man. I guess liver is seen as an old-time food.

I'm kind of lazy. Wonder if it would work with Funyuns.
>>
>>22242213
The only way I'd allow Funyuns in there is if they were pulverized into a panko consistency and then used to bread the liver.
-flour, egg wash, Funyuns crumbs-
And that sounds pretty fucking delicious to me. Perhaps I'll do that with the remainder of my thawed liver. I have to go shopping for ratatouille components anyway.

Thanks for the unexpected inspiration.

I'll probably post it in my thread but I'll link to it. I'll make it tomorrow or Tuesday. Funyuns are already on the shopping list. I haven't had them in years.
>>
>>22239306
You can always experiment with other things and find something you like.

Liver and onions is just sort of traditional. Like turkey with cranberry sauce, or most fried fish with lemon.

>>
>>22242471
Why do you think gout is at all common or that it can be tied to specific foods? That word should come up about as often as 'goiter' for how prevalent it is in modern times.
Fuck off.
>>
I was eating fried liver in a bar one time and it didn't have any flavor whatsoever on top of being soggy. I asked the kitchen guy how was it prepared, and he told me they soak it in milk to remove the "harsh taste".

Disgusting. If you don't like liver, go eat chicken tendies.

Anyone have the screenshot of some retard thinking "liver" refers to someone who's alive? That shit was funny. I should have saved it.

Me? I like to eat my liver in an onion gravy. Fry your liver in plenty of butter. Set aside. Cook onions and bacon. Sprinkle a tablespoon of flour. Cook for a minute and add beef stock. Cook to a thick gravy. Serve with mash. Now that is lush dee lads
