grocery shopping for one sucks because maybe I just want to make like 1 or 2 burgers and not be stuck making burgers for a week straight.

they need to start selling single serve ingredients

>>
>>22241049
Dude, a 1 lb. log of ground beef can be bought anywhere. That's 2-4 burgers for $6. You can't handle that??
>>
>>22241052
Where can I just get 1 bun

>>22241051

>>
>>22241049
That's what freezers are for.
Cook a family sized batch and freeze everything you can't eat today and tomorrow.

Same with vegetables. Buy the big bags of carrots/celery/leek, cut them up and freeze them in ready to use batches that you can just take out of the freezer and throw in a pot to make stews/soups.

you're acting like cheese and pickles are only used for burgers. those things last ages in the fridge and can be used for all sorts of things, don't be a retard. the bun and patties, a little less versatile, but you can throw them in the freezer.

it's really not that hard to eat as a single person. you're just being stupid. it takes a tiny bit more effort to store things and think ahead, that's it.

you can get a single slice of cheese in the deli and 5 pickle slices in a cold pack in the deli or produce wall. do you want me to go grocery shopping for you?

Yeah, you can go into any American supermarket and buy exactly what you need to make one burger. The butcher will weigh you out 6 oz or whatever you want of ground beef. The produce department also has to sell you what you want, even if it's one leaf of lettuce and 1/4 of a tomato. And the deli and bakery covers the rest. You can get mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup packets there too.

But you will come off as a colossal prick by doing that. Just buy in bulk and enjoy a few burger nights. Maybe even have friends over if you have any.

You can but it's not very cost effective. The smaller packages always cost more per pound than the regular consumer sized packages. I'm more curious what you buy for burgers that doesn't keep for at least a month. Except the ground beef you can always use for some meatballs or Bolognese.

>>
>>22241636
>>22241649
No, those places don't have a butcher or an actual bakery. The ground meat comes in frozen and is pulled to thaw. The "baked in store" shit is all made from pre-fab frozen dough, and most grocery stores don't even do deli slices anymore and instead precut all of that and sell it that way. No, putting a pre-molded baguette in an oven or slicing some ham doesn't make you a butcher or baker.

Braindead are we?
Walmart, Shoprite, Food Lion, whoever the fuck CANNOT get you your special snowflake portion of meat. There is no butcher. There is no butcher counter. You buy the ground beef, which was ground in a factory ages ago, in pre-portioned trays. You aren't asking them for 3 and half pounds, you buy four 1lb trays and deal with it.
You also aren't asking them to please oh please bake me one single bun sir! Because you are buying the entire pack of 6 or 8 rolls because that's what they have to sell you. They make them in batches, sell them in batches.
They don't have butchers, they don't have bakeries, most don't even have a deli counter where you stand and ask for such and such cut like this and 3/4ths pounds of cheese either.
If you are seriously implying the people who work stocking meat from the walk-in to the shelves are butchers you are truly beyond help.
>>

Not for 1 burger, did you forget what thread you were in? You can get a small amount of meat at Walmart. You can get 1 roll at Walmart. You can get 1 tomato at Walmart. Even if you want to boil this down to the biggest, least accommodating lowest common denominator store you're still wrong no matter how small you want to make the scale of the meal.

If you buy whole pickles you can slice the whole pickles into pickle chips. Way more crisp, way more cost effective, they taste better and you can slice them to your desired thickness.
I don't get the American retardation of buying pickles AND pickle slices AND relish that take up three times the space. Just get whole pickles that last forever and you can make everything you need with that.

Name one fucking deli counter where you buy ground beef. Or any meat that isn't fucking DELI SLICES (holy fuck look at that, it's in the name!).
Are you fucking retarded or are you just the most inbred thirdie on the planet?
Grocery stores do not cut, grind or weigh actual portions of raw meat out for you. They just don't. Ever. That's a butcher and grocery stores aren't butcheries. Some old-fashioned stores still have delis where you ask for them to cut you some fully cooked processed meat, but that's also fallen well out of favor.

>>22242186

The Meat Department is a thing and they do employ butchers/meat cutters. There's even a union. I just spoke with one on Thursday as he cut up $500 worth of beef for me.

They will grind your beef to specific coarseness. They will cut to specific weights or sizes. You can take the meat off of "the shelf" and give it to them and they will cube it for stew if you so desire.

Get your shit together and accept the truth, anon.

Thanks for your input. I went to my local grocery store today and verified my conclusions (meijer, columbus ohio, so not some ultracheap schizo hole nobody has ever heard of nor way out in the sticks, medium size city)
>what used to be a butcher counter/department has been repurposed to just hold prepackaged stuff, no scales on the top, nobody working behind it
FACT CHECKED: TRUE
>the bakery department has a lot of stuff made in store but absolutely no "single rolls" available in any capacity. you can get a single big loaf or a sack of 6+ rolls/buns
FACT CHECKED: TRUE
>deli counter where individually sliced meat and cheese can be had is still staffed, stocked, scales etc. fully operational
FACT CHECKED: TRUE

They even have a sushi station where some chink employees roll up the godless midwest grocery store sushi before your very eyes, but "single rolls" from the bakery are nowhere to be seen and a live butcher where you talk to a guy and point to the meat you want is likewise long gone. My local walmart and kroger are the same. You have to go to a slightly fancier grocery store if you want any of that.
