Hello /ck/! This thread is about fried chikky and accessories.

I am very fortunate enough to have access to a Jollibee. I got the 1 Chikenjoy and Palabok Fiesta meal. This came with gravy and I chose to include an Ube Dessert Pie.

The bag features their adorable bee mascot, which as I understand it, is just named Jollibee.

Let's dig in!
>>
So first of all, I have wanted to eat Jollibee since maybe the 2010s. Jollibee is a Filipino fried chicken fast food restaurant, and it is known to be a very successful brand.

They are known for their "Chickenjoy", which is really just a name for fried chicken. Fried chicken as it stands is considered a foreign style of preparing chicken, as it comes from the West. In particular, Jollibee was inspired by American fried chicken.

So here is the packaging for the Jollibee meal I ordered. O erall, the packaging design is modern, and lovely. Smooth corners, edges, and color palette. Warm reds, oranges, and yellows.

To be sure, the Jollibee in my area, when I drove up, had its drive-thru closed. I was remiss when I saw this. I thought, "oh no, they must not be doing well!"

However, when I entered the establishment, I was awed at the amount of people inside the building. It was FILLED with patrons. Perhaps the drive-thru was closed due to the sheer amount of walk-in customers. The demographics were as expected: various asian american families, and the odd non-asian customers (such as myself) who were curious about the franchise.

There were both walk-up touchscreen kiosks, and the traditional walk-up register. The overall design of the establishment reminded me of classic McDonalds, or perhaps Burger Kings at this point. The kitchen was clearly visible, and the pickup area was dedicated to an extended counterspace, rather than a truncated counterspace with shelving for pickup orders, alal 2020s McDonalds.

The dining room was lively, with warm goldne palettes and red plastic booth seating. I witnessed a couple eating their trademark Spaghetti, and while I considered buying that instead, I have a preference for absolutely new experiences, and chose the Palabok Fiesta.

I went to Manila in 2025 and tried jollibee. It was a disappointment. The girl was a disappointment too.
Never going back to that hellhole. Keep your chicken

Tried the one near Port Authority a few years ago. The chicken I could take or leave although having gravy as an option was nice. The spaghetti was more interesting, had a sort of sweet musty taste that put me off at first but grew on me later. I keep intending to go back

The Palabok Fiesta is slightly oddly named, but a lovely Filipino concept regardless. It is a traditional noodle dish, composed of Glass Noodles or perhaps Vermicelli, topped with a sauce composed of pork, chicken, and garlic, and whatever the fuck else they include to create the orange color. Topped with thin slices of hard boiled egg.

I chose this as my side precisely for the odd name and the fact that as I understood it, the Spaghetti was "sweet". Sweet spaghetti will have to be saved for another visit.

100% I can understand the disappointment. As a fried chicken restaurant, it is about equivalent to anything else I've tried.

Ube is actually not fruit.

I also intend to go back. You make me want to try the Spaghetti even moreso.

Here is the meal, photographed.

To be honest, I didn't want the Chickenjoy. Fried chicken as a concept is done and dusted withiut any unique appeal. However, it was still a perfectly servicable food. The gravy was exactly too much, and ended up wasted, but it did add some extra flavor to the chicken. The meat itself was juicy, moist. A little pink in the center, but nothing alarming. The tendon, my most hated part of a chicken leg, separated cleanly from the meat. A pleasant surprise.

The Palabok Fiesta, however, was the star of the meal. While the noodles were fused into a solid mass (absolutely expected), they teased apart when mixed with the sauce. I absolutely loved eating it. It was savory, clean, and its flavor persisted long after eating it. It also still held the quality of "fast food substance", a kind of empty, mass-produced feeling, but I consider it charming, as there is no other Jollibee in the entire state in which I reside.
>>
The Ube pie was absolutely delicious, however. I 100% could see myself ordering it and a coffee for a meal on its own. The crust was flaky, buttery and savory, while the ube paste filling was a delicious sugary substance that didn't overpower too terribly.

To be honest, I knew this thread wouldn't spark a whole bunch of response or discussion, but for those who stayed or even looked in, thank you for sharing this time with me. Happy Sunday, everyone. <3

Jollibee is fine, but the fried chicken at McDonald's in the Philippines is actually better
>>
>>22241924
Yep
Filipinos 'harvest' their chicken too early and iy makes it pink. I cant fuxking stand that. McD was the best fastfood chicken I had in PH. Popeyes was bad too

This palabok stuff actually looks good. Yeah the chicken wasnt remarkable. But combined with that. I could go for it again
>>
Historically cado always said that Jolibee is the best chicken place
>>
As a flipfag, I'm jealous how they treat muricans as a first class citizens with exclusive items and bigger portions with the Jollibee there. Then again, I'm thankful to have prices that are worth buying their slop here. Wish they'd bring back the chicken sandwich and ultimate burger steak here in flipland...

Thanks for the review, there’s one that I occasionally drive near so I’ll have to stop and try the palabok fiesta

I always order the burger steak with rice and mushroom gravy, It's the taste of the holidays to me!
I recently found a place that imitates jollibee and has that on the menu so now I can have it any time.
The crazy thing about this place is actually a philo franchise but in every other country they don't sell the chicken or the burgers.
