the people bitching about food prices eat processed garbage or expect steak twice a day.
I made this for practically nothing and i have leftovers.
Yeah, im poor. But I eat like a fucking king
>>
>>22242148
Looks tasty. Yes, it doesn't cost a lot to eat when you buy raw and bulk ingredients and put in the work.
People just need to educate themselves on how to be self-sufficient.

Beans, rice, veggies, and chicken leg quarters are always affordable. Pork too.
>>
>>22242158
thanks. The lentils turned out great. I cooked them in beef broth and with sauted onion, shallot and just a bit of chopped jalapeno. Very tastey
>>
>>22242163
Thanks for the data. I struggle with lentils.
>>
>>22242170
it doesnt help that searching lentil recipes just brings up vegan garbage
>>
>>22242148
The same niggas that made up "you will own nothing and be happy" as a strawman argument and attributed it to their opposition are now sincerely telling you "you will own nothing and be happy"
KEK
>>
>>22242148
All of that shit has still gone up in price 20-30%. More if you have tariffed goods
>>
>>22242227
If RFK suggests eating bugs theyll be posting backyard hauls.
>>
prices do be going up
but yea, shopping and cooking are both skills that are serving me well
still sucks going into publix and spending $70 on a few basic things, even grabbing BOGO for a lot of it
gotta stay in a no luxury, bare essentials mindset just to survive and i think there's a decent argument for saying it shouldn't be that way
but most of these people are obese as fuck and completely helpless
>>
Lentils are great and cheap. Don't tell the normals.
>>
>>22242326
Fuck. I didn't think about that.

I understand that you CAN eat cheap. But the things that i want to eat have doubled in price, and I’m pissed that i HAVE to shop the sales or manager specials to eat the meat that i want. Which is primarily beef or seafood.
Why are roasting potatoes $6 for 3lbs when they used to be $4?
Why is a white onion 1.49lb when it used to be .89? Why the fuck is CELERY almost $3?
I see the prices of snacks have gone up as well but as other costs have risen I’ve cut snacks out of my budget already.
My electric bill didn’t go down during the more temperate months like it used to either, it’s been over $345 consistently for my 3 bedroom ranch (vaulted ceiling doesn’t help).
I make more money than i ever have, but I’m still having to game the grocery stores and living paycheck to paycheck. Would appreciate not having to watch my food budget so closely.
Both parties claim they’re going to address this but neither of them share a plan that makes sense.
Promises of lower prices from reducing regulations will always fall short because why tf would those savings pass to the consumer when they’re a fraction of the operating budget in the first place?
When grocery stores made record profits during COVID, prices didn’t drop either.
So any douchebag trying to platform lowering groceries needs to share what they can even do to cause change, or shut the fuck up.
I immediately assume they’re a lying bastard if that’s on their platform with no explanation

>one side enacted thoughtless, indiscriminate tariffs on everything for no reason
>one side bombed the strait for no reason interrupting global trade routes and oil prices
>one side has had a 2-way majority for the entirety of the 21st century and a 3-way majority for 4/7 of the presidential terms this century
yeah both sides though lololol and im gonna vote him a 4th time for faggots that cry like you

I have never voted republican. Ever.
Last election i straight ticketed blue.

That's the same strip and you drew over the fat connecting the two pieces because you want to obscure the fact that it's the same piece.

>Why are roasting potatoes $6 for 3lbs
You live somewhere far from the food so most of your food cost is transportation and is tied to the price of oil. I bought 5 pounds for $0.97 yesterday, normally they are ~$3 for 5 pounds but they get cheap here when the fall harvest comes in. Your electric bill is more than all of my utilities combined for my two bedroom house, last months bills were $140, dead of winter when it is 30 below it might hit $225.
>>
>>22242470
Crazy how there are really people so paranoid or think they're so important that OP would post a photo of a bunch of bacon, lentils and potatoes and tried to make it look like there was more bacon to fool people into? I don't know what exactly lmao

I’m in central Indiana, farm fields are 40 minutes away but guess what they grow
>>
>>22242756
im in Oregon and get idaho potatoes for $2.50 for a 5 pound bag. You should speak to your representative
>>
>>22242756
Probably popcorn, Indiana produces half of the country's popcorn. If not popcorn it is almost certainly some sort of cereal grain or feedstock, it is what that land is best for. Being near farms does not mean you are near the food, farms grow a great deal of stuff other than food for humans.
>>
>>22242148
woah, fukken bacon, now das luxury. kys
>>
>>22242785
Maybe there’s a solvable problem there

I do think food prices are getting a little crazy but I largely agree with you. Even when work took over my life I made sure that I cooked and ate well. Usually I had pork chops or chicken breasts with frozen greens cooked with an onion and plenty of garlic. When I had to work a night shift I'd head straight to the grocery store afterward and pick up discounted ground beef to make chili. Chili, chicken & wild rice soup, and Japanese curry are all excellent lazy meals that don't break the bank. IMO there's no excuse for people to buy relatively expensive ultraprocessed junk, especially if they're using EBT to do it. I'm in favor of expanding EBT in certain ways like allowing rotisserie chickens since they're real food at a good value but chips and soda shouldn't be eligible.
>>
I don't eat processed shit and prices have been rising significantly.
>>
>>22242148
Buying nearly expired marked down/quick sale meat is not eating like a king. You are bragging about the fact that you can't afford fresh food.
>>
>>22242861
$32 doesn’t get you much junk food nowadays at this point lol
>>
>>22242158
You sound like a flaming homosexual.
>>
>>22242972
Exactly! Eating like a king is buying whatever you want whenever without checking your bank account.
All these people talking about you *can* eat well by putting work into it and buying what is cheap at the time are annoying
>>
>>22242734
>a bunch of bacon
hahahahaha you always were a joker. I'm loving the new clothes too mein fuhrer.
>>
>>22242148
Seedslime, toxic green leaves, bitter toxic onions, and nitrate filled “meat” absoulute slave food good job Anon
>>
>>22242812
Potatoes are troublesome to grow in those parts and is a high risk crop there, so Indiana farmers don't grow them. It is not an accident that the bulk of potato production is in the north, you need the cold for reliable large scale potato farming. Even if a Indiana farmer wanted to grow potatoes, they could easily be looking at a $1M investment in equipment just for a family farm and even if they exploited the high local prices they would probably make less money than they can on the cereals the region is well suited for and greatly increased crop loss.

The solvable problem there is for people to stop be retarded and thinking everything should be cheap.
>>
>>22242148
If you can cook you'll be alright

Cup of oat groats, cup of chickpeas... Some combination of grain and lentil rotated every day... That's like half your daily calories for $1-2 dollars depending of whether you go organic or not.
>>
>>22244231
> regionalism can’t work, it’s not efficient for the profit margin we’ve decided we need
> just accept the endless soy and corn for export
>>
>>22244608
I'm not the one living paycheck to paycheck.
>>22244835
It can work but people will first have to accept primarily eating regional foods while they are in season, paying higher prices and accepting they don't get what ever they want when ever they want it, large swings in price caused by regional supply and demand, little choice in food during bad years, etc. The consumer choose this path, not the farmer, they expect potatoes 365 days a year.

Farmers have to worry about profit margin if they want to survive. Most farmers are not particularly well off, they are red necks but unlike most, they are very good at living within their means and can budget and save their money so they can drop $250k on that new combine or what ever. Farms are expensive to own and operate.
>>
>>22244894
> I’m not the one living paycheck to paycheck
But you’re the one excusing the COL creep.
> the consumer chose this path
Shareholders chose it by demanding consistent growth. Consumers will always complain about anything, but will also buy whatever is available.
Who undercut American farmers to keep their profit margins good? I don’t think it was Karen mad about strawberries one week, then toothbrushes the next.
