Cast iron pans are kind of nasty.
>>
>>22243692
this whole “seasoning” business sounds like some joe rogan bullshit
>>
I hate cast iron pans and the only reason I use one is because my girlfriend has one and I hate having to baby that big heavy piece of shit. They don't do anything they can't be covered by a stainless or a non stick. We're also not going to have kids so it's just going to go in the trash when we die. I HATE IT
>>

>I hate having to baby that big heavy piece of shit
How would your girlfriend feel if she knew you were calling her that behind her back?
>>
>>22243692
Screw that, this isn't the 1800s I wash my cast iron, dry, spray with duck fat. Cook in fats. Repeat.
>>
Fuck that. I always use a drop of dish soap and it doesn't strip the seasoning.
>>
>>22243711
She's pretty fat so I don't think she would like they very much
>>
>>22243713
the dish soap thing is an ancient meme from boomer soaps made with lye, dawn won't do anything to it
>>
>>22243709

Burgers, Steakes, Hashed Browns, and Eggies are all Easier to Cook on Cast Iron than Stainless Steel

And I don’t cook on yucky synthetic plastic
>>
>>22243721
I just checked the ingredients on dawn dish soap and it does actually contain lye in it lol.
Old soaps only used lye to chemically react and saponify oils. Once the reaction is done and the soap is cured there is no more lye leftover.
>>
>>22243692
>wipe out food while warm

Just stop there, no reason to go any further.
>>
>>22243741
>egg in a cast iron
I'd never do that
>>
>>22243873
It's great if you have some oil in there.
>>
>>22243692
I use soap all the time with my carbon steel pans and nothing happens. I don't understand you Karens.
>>
>seasoning gives it non-stick properties

IME if it was going to stick to stainless, it will stick to CI, and all that seasoning is just feel-good bullshit that marginally helps with things that would release anyway.
>>
>>22243741
Teflon isn't plastic
>>
>>22243853
I like scrubbing with salt like a Real Man, then oiling my pan, because I have Hairy Balls then just placing it in the cupboard
>>
>>22243714
>She's pretty fat
Finally, a man with some taste around here
>>
>>22244109
I do love fat girls but I am no longer attracted to my girlfriend. She's just gotten really sloppy and also annoying.
>>
>>22244113
That sucks, she just giga lazy or sometime? It's the curse of fat women
>>
>>22244117
She is pretty lazy from having WFH jobs for like 12 years. I've only ever done manual labor my whole working life. She's been working a job at a local zoo where she has to stand for 6 hours and talk to people about butterflies and when I come home after my 10 hour days busting my ass, I have to hear about how hard she had it standing around a fucking zoo. And somehow, after almost none months of working outside and being on her feet, she's only managed to gain weight.
>>
>>22244099
>t. Seasonlet
>>
>>22244122
I've done both and standing still is worse than actually working and I imagine if you're fat it's even worse. Your joints and shit only work well when they're moving.
>>
>>22243692
Modern dish soap doesn't have lye in it. People who never wash their cast iron with soap are fucking disgusting.
>>
>>22243692
>heavy
>takes an eternity to heat up
>pain in the ass to wash
>pain in the ass to store
>requires "seasoning", which is a pain in the ass
Why would anyone opt for cast iron when they could buy stainless steel instead?
>>
>>22244264
>>takes an eternity to heat up
This is a perk. It means it takes longer to cool down when you of in the cold food

He actually responded to that...

Just spreading some Truth
>>
>>22244432
How about you spread your wings and take flight into your dazzlingly bright future? I'm cheering for you, always.

Aw thanks bb

Great song

>>
>>22244439
Oh, I didn't know it was a song. Neat, though.
>>
>>22243692
The crust on my mom's cast iron is so thick you can just dump it in the dishwasher and nothing will happen to it.
>>
>>22244515
If nothing happens to it, why put it in in the first place?
>>
>>22243692
just burn your cast iron after the wash or it'll rust, THAT IS ALL
>>
>>22244526
comments like these keep me coming back here
>>
>>22243692
I threw my cast iron pan away fuck seasoning this trash after every use
>>
>>22243692
why not stainless steel?
or enameled
>>
please use soap
