microwaves are dumb. there isn't anything you can't make better and faster without one.
>>22245228been using the same one since 1998, it was cleaned exactly once, by a former roommate. the motor for the rotating part gave out years ago so I just turn the dish, nuke it a bit, turn the dish etc
>>22245234>it was cleaned exactly once, did you make sure to take it apart to clean behind the vent holes?
>>22245228Better, yes. Faster? Rarely. It's a great method for heating up a plate of random leftovers; something that won't heat evenly or correctly in a skillet or the oven. Everything comes out uniformly hot and isn't browned or dried out. And in about 90 seconds at the most.
>>22245234dude
>>22245228faster, not necessarily, but better, absolutely. I haven't owned a microwave in a couple years and the only thing I miss it for is melting butter. can do it in a saucepan on the stove but it's easier in the microwave and doesn't really impact the quality of it unlike heating up leftovers or something. it's not worth keeping a big appliance around just for that though.
>>22245228I didn't realize the house I bought didn't come with a microwave until about 6 months of living there. That's when I realized they're useless apart from on a jobsite
steam veggies in minutesreheats rice the best of any methodi dont use it a lot but there are some things it does well
>>22245261rice cooker does both of those things better
>>22245271Reheating rice in a rice cooker? Better? I don't think so. Microwave will do it perfectly in 30 seconds and you can probably heat it and eat it in the storage container. Superior in every way.
boil 2 cups of water in about 2 minutes
>>22245228You don't use a microwave to make stuff, you use it to reheat stuff.
>>22245296Electric kettle can do it in 30 seconds.
Reheating food is overrated anyway. Most food is better cold.
>>22245314I've even hard boiled eggs using a microwave.
