I've been using a thin sheet of plastic that I'm not entirely sure was meant to be a cutting board for years and it has holes that go all the way through now.

>>22246897I bought a 3 piece set of this style of bamboo cutting boards something like 8 years ago and while I'm sure an endgrain butcher block would be nicer, it has worked perfectly fine, zero warping, easy cleaning, no fuss. I swear that people who complain about wooden cutting boards don't do maintenance and that's why they hate them. Oil your board (it's not even often, you can get by with doing so every 3-6 months) and it'll keep its sheen, repel water and be trivial to clean, boards only really stain once they dried out.I use 1 part beeswax to 4 parts mineral oil to make a simple woodbalm which is easier to spread and maintain.

Years ago I moved into a house and the previous tenant had forgot a big box of kitchen supplies, it had some of those Epicurean cutting boards so I just use those. They hold up well and are kind to the knife, I like em. Rest of the box was just cheap kitchen supplies, think all I kept was a silver spoon, I use it for my tea at work.
