Happy shawarma day!
I've got 1 big question: why is this not a thing in the states?

Not in my nation, terrorist
>>

Because it's just four local restaurant chains that decided to do a joint promo.

The bigger question is, why isn't Tahini's one of the restaurants doing that? They're in Toronto also.

"Let me tell you about your country," the thread. This entire site blew up with pic related 4 years ago.

>>22247644
Fake. They don't have large, logo-driven, name-brand gyro restaurants in rural areas in the 3rd world, either.
>>
>>22247563
your country is over 50% shit skin, its already a lost cause that will be abandoned by israel soon
>>
>>22247557
the % of good shawarmas here in my eu city is below 1%
>>
best shawarma in israel is run by a guy who is supposed to be dead
>>
>>22247557
Wtf is shawarma anyway?

Are you familiar with gyro/döner/carne al pastor? Basically, cuts of meat stacked on a skewer and roasted on a vertical spit (or as it's said on parks and rec "a meat tornado")

Question: whereabouts do you live and what's the ethnicity of your area (mostly white, some hispanic, etc)?
>>
>>22249183
Yeah i am familiar, so answer the question.

>Another technique Jan uses sometimes is she eats a lot of shawarma before I come home, and that gasses up her spaghetti house and makes a sewage stink all in the bedroom.

osmows and lazeez are so shitty these days you couldn't pay me $5 to eat there anymore.

But why though?

>>22248576
I'm also going to need context to this plz

>>22249363
Agreed. I had shelby's yesterday, didn't have a pleasant taste. Of all the chains though, tahinis is alright and (I kid you not) villa madina is best. But of course, ANY local hole-in-the-wall shawarma joint is best

What is the difference from kebab is what you should be telling me

Okay, now we're gettin somewhere
And whereabouts? Are you in a southern state in a hick town? Or a more populated city on the east coast?

>What is the difference from kebab
The key difference, besides spices (which I won't even bother getting into) is that kebab is chunks of meat on handheld skewers and is cooked individually. Shawarma on the other hand (along with gyro/döner/carne al pastor) are piles of thinner slabs of meat stacked on top of the other on a long skewer, about 3'-4' long, cooked on a vertical spit; the point of this is so the outer layer is cooked, cut off and served, and repeated in a slow and steady fashion, ideal for serving customers throughout the day

Did I miss something?

>>22247557
Never eat franchised shawarma
>>
I live in Greece and these are the same if not cheaper prices we get for a shitty wrap,at this point frozen gyros gets me more bang for my buck and even better quality meat,it's insane
>>
>>22250588
Stavros, in your opinion, is gyro easy to fuck up?

Part of why shawarma is popular here (in leafland) is cuz of how most gyro joints suck ass; the meat is mushy, heavily salted, and rarely crispy. But the gyro joints that do thrive are fuckin phenomenal
