are there any foods that you would go to prison for?
>In 2003, after discovering that the majority of chocolate produced at the time had links to human exploitation, Teun van de Keuken began producing programs about the horrors of the commercial cocoa industry on his show Keuringsdienst van Waarde. Furthermore, he submitted a request that people be prosecuted for knowingly purchasing an illegally manufactured product, which prosecutors declined to do.

Tony's is pretty good though

I bet giant panda tastes alright.

>are there any foods that you would go to constant ass rape for?

absolutely not, I'd rather live on soggy grain in a thermos like the polish soup serf than go to jail

It is

prison good?

Chocolate is pretty decent. But didn't the guy come out as a fraud with all the fair trade bs he was claiming?
>>
>>22250581
the company had a controversy because their hazelnut supplier was no good, but it was corrected after the outrage. the supply chain for the chocolate itself is fully traceable so i think it is legit

It its, the shape is genuinely obnoxious though. Can't get a clean portion off it.

Nothing I eat is illegal so I guess no.
Oh and I don't think prisons have any exclusive foods.

Bought a chocolate chip cookie bar today. Taste is really good but totally forgot how much of a pain they are to break into smaller pieces. Either you end up with chocolate pieces or have to bite them into smaller pieces.
>>
>>22250581
he found out himself that there possibly still is cocoa being used that comes from the slave trade. There is like 1 link in the chain that is not completely airtight so he openly admitted his chocolate MIGHT still contain slave cocoa.
>>
>>22253197
why doesnt he go and check?
>>
>>22249477
Now we need to pay bribes to some NGO to sign "there's no exploitation", it doesn't matter if there is some exploitation going on.
>>
>>22253197
Mass balancing or not, fair trade is still way better than what came before. The real problem comes from the big dogs and the governments that support them.
>>
>>22253458
>Mass balancing or not, fair trade is still way better than what came before
No, it's not. It's scam that looks good for distant people in distant countries.

Sorry anon, a cult built around a diet doesn't get to define a thing about morality.

If anything, veganism is objectivelly imoral.
>>
>>22253464
killing one person is better than killing 100
>>
>>22253483
>killing one person is better than killing 100
As I was saying, it's a scam that looks good for guilible people in distant countries.

Cocoa collecting practices don't change, but after this a few corrupt NGOs no require bribes to stamp a "fair trade" stamp on the product. This usually reduce the amount farmers and collectors get.

That's the main reason why everyone, from independents to large producers prefer to sell to the Chinese or locally.
>>
>>22253487
oh, i see your point. like how the organic stamp means nothing anymore
>>
>>22253491
And it's far worse than meaning nothing, it means now producers must pay some quite heft bribes to sell to certain countries.

One "saca" (local unit) of pre-processed cocoa goes sells for around 200 USD, and NGOs are asking from around 80 - 100 USD for, then it can only be sold in certain countries by certified companies who resell it for around 350 USD.

At least here there's legal protection, Africans and Central Americans get really screwed by this.

>>22253481
>veganism is objectivelly imoral.
explain
>>
>>22253536
When a person or group adopts an arbitrary behavior as a means of signaling virtue and feeling self-righteous, they often begin to preach and make others feel guilty for not following it, insisting that their chosen behavior is objectively moral and that abstaining from it is immoral. If the behavior is also harmful to one’s health, the situation only becomes worse.

Think about Jehovah Witness and their refusal to accept blood transfusion.
>>
>>22253544
vegans get insulted by the people eating something that causes harm in the form of colon cancer
>>
>>22253552
Being dishonest and inventing “facts” to support such cult-like behavior makes matters worse, as it adds deceit to the problem.

Lying is never rightful.
>>
>>22253556
everyone lies to satisfy their habits. vegans can make things up about their diets being nutritionally complete while meat eaters keep coming up with "studies that suggest" their broken guts and arteries are actually nothing to worry about. i think all of us have illogical moral beliefs and try to impose it onto others, so i do not pay much mind towards the so-called vegan cult since they are not so different to me
>>
>>22253573
>everyone lies to satisfy their habits
You lie compulsively, yet this does not mean everyone else does the same, does it?
>>
>>22253580
i lie because i am a fallen man, as well as you
>>
>>22253589
>I shit on my pants, but so does everyone else
Try to be self-rightoust though stop lying, instead of wacky diets.
>>
>>22253591
it is ironic that you are lying to me by trying to suggest that you do not lie
>>
>>22253595
Sorry my friend, but repeating "you're as bad as me" will not convince me to follow some cult-like diet.
>>
>>22253544
>arbitrary behavior
>>
>>22253599
what is your point then? you can call someone immoral, and he can call you immoral too
>>
>>22253604
If it helps you to feel better, I can also pretend that I and everyone is also a compulsive liar, and that morality comes from preaching some random diet.
>>
>>22253608
you are lying if you are suggesting that i am preaching any diet

I personally wish for world peace and for my food be sourced through no suffering to any animal or human
At the same time I take no personal responsibility for consuming or enjoying food that is a result of suffering or exploitation.
Until such a utopian world free of suffering is reached, I shall keep enjoying my steak, meat, chocolate and coffee.

That’s weird that so much of their stuff is private label
>>
>>22253424
If I remember correctly the problem is that some Fair Trade, inspected farmers illegally buy cocoa from other locals so they have more revenue. As the source of this cacao is unknown, it COULD be using slaves. Teun has admitted that although they try to crack down on this practice he can't completely rule out this cacao still makes it way into his products.
>>
>>22249477
lemme guess, he blames evil racist white capitalism rather than the africoon warlords who have been enslaving and butchering each other for thousands of years.
>>
>>22254166
Dude, I know how much you want to virtue signal your based american conservative views, but cocoa farmers and collectors tend to either independent or have good working conditions, at least better than the stories I see about wagies.

Meanwhile foreign run operations are for all purpose slave labor.
