One of Gordon's golden rules is you should never eat at a restaurant where you can't see into the kitchen.

Why is this true? Customers want to see the cleanliness of the kitchen, if they're joking around or serious about their profession, and it keeps cooks under scrutiny and in order.

If you can't walk into a restaurant and see the cooking process, then you have no idea what's going on back there. That's the Gordon standard.
>>
I was once told that if the bathrooms are dirty, don't eat there because if they can't keep a bathroom clean...they aren't cleaning anything else that the public isn't seeing.

It's not true and that guy is a hack
>>

you can’t really see the kitchen in most restaurants, there are these things in the way called doors. by this logic you’d be eating fast food all the time

What if they were clean but OP had just been in there and his lunch just fell out of his arse and all over the seat ?

I regularly go to a ramen place, a pizza place and twice a year to an expensive fusion food type restaurant that specialises in using local ingredients.

All 3 of those are great and in all 3 you can look into the kitchen. The ramen and the fusion restaurant I can even sit right at the counter basically being face to face with the cooks.
Oh and one fish restaurant where i like the lunch menu. They also have an open kitchen.

I actually dont have a strong opinion on this but all of my favorite eateries do have an open kitchen.

How do you know this? I've never heard that man successfully complete a sentence.

>go to restaurant
>piss all over the bathroom stall
>it's now dirty
>leave because the kitchen must also be dirty

the places you frequent seem a little high brow for most people
>>
>>22250489
The post i replied to argued that open kitchens are a fast food restaurant thing. I just wanted to contrast that with my own experience.
None of the restaurants are high brow other than the fusion food one though.

Maybe it has to do with where i live but the only restaurant with a closed kitchen i can think off rn is a greek one where my employer does christmas parties. Theyre pretty mid lmao

>One of Gordon's golden rules
that's a lie I've seen him eat at heaps of places with closed kitchens.
>>
Red Robin has a visible kitchen
>>

It's well known that Gordon is incapable of following his own rules
>>
you can see into the kitchen of every fast food restaurant
>>
>>22250435
Going to a restaurant OP is allowed into is an even worse idea so the rule holds firm. If a restaurant can't keep such undesirables out then you shouldn't want to go there yourself.
>>
Went to a Michelin-star restaurant, once. The kitchen was obviously closed. But between two plate, the waiter took us for a visit tour and a short explanation of who do what in a cuisine brigade. He even show us the old cave full of bottles of wine. It was a nice interlude : makes you feel special and rise trust in the restaurant.

Gordon? You mean the same pretentious asshole who can’t make a grilled cheese sandwich properly, despite two attempts at it? Can’t even melt the cheese completely the second time kek.
Hopefully third time’s the charm.

you really gonna take advice from this guy?
>>
>>22251636
I might if the advice was given privately. He does almost certainly know more than I do about food and cooking but he has absolutely no integrity around a camera, he will do or say anything for attention.
1-on-1 he would probably give actual advice, I imagine.

>>22250368
And you can't see in most UK kitchens
>>

Ramsey is a cockwart.
His ramen tastes like kitty litter.
>>

He's a fucking fraud.
