Anyone want to give me pointers on a good cookie recipe using this? I made some date cookies recently but they weren't sweet enough and they were a bit dry. It was like 2/3rd boiled condensed milk 1 2/3 cups of flower 12 tbsp of butter 1/2 tbs salt 1/2 tbs cinnamon 1 cup dried chopped dates.Basically i want to do it over but make it better. I have all the staple ingredients and lots of canned fruit I can use. Also could utilize some old fashioned oats or turn it into a bread. Just tell me what you would do!
>>22251949I’m sure there’s better options but when it comes to cookies and dulce de leche first thing I think of are alfajores

>>22251957I am not that anon >>22251955How do you make those
>>22251965I haven’t made them before myself so I can’t say if this recipe is good. It’s originally a Spanish sandwich cookie where the dulce de leche is the filling.https://www.muydelish.com/alfajores/Coconut around the edge is optional, a common variation is to coat it in chocolate
>>2225194magic cookie bars is what I make when I have extra sweetened condensed milk on hand, very easy to dohttps://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/63959/magic-cookie-bars-from-eagle-brand/
>>22251949Fpbp. Use it for filling, not for the actual cookie. Sandwich'ed cookie, or thumbprint filling, or a Lintzer. While you COOOULD use it for the dough, the amount you'd use would be so small that it wouldn't be significant enough to say that you're using it to it's max potential. Like you could make a cookie with honey (I have), and I'm sure I could make a cookie using condensed milk for the dough, but I just know there are better ways to use it. Similar to lemon stuff. It's very hard to do lemon stuff using only common home ingredients unless it's in a filling or custard.Or do a souffle instead of cookie, or a Blintz, or some Crepes.

So I ended up making the cookies with oats and using some fig preserves i had sitting around, which had enough syrupy liquid to give them the moisture they needed. I used about 3/4 cup dulce de leche in the cookie dough. These turned out much better, eggs and brown sugar made a world of difference.
