>An Italian chef sacked from a Brisbane restaurant had refused to put pineapple on a pizza because it was an "insult to his culture".https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx4g1qy6gq9mo
Meanwhile people will soon be getting into fist fights over cranberry sauce to slather over savory dishes on turkey day and Christmas.
>>22275346I hope he wasn't putting tomato on it then
>>22275351Why wouldn't you put tomato on it?
The whole italian ""traditional cuisine"" schtick is entirely retarded. For some reason, they decided that their "traditional" cuisine is based on a few very specific recipes codified in the 1950s, that you are now prohibited from modifying because they are traditional and sacred etc. Completely idiotic from a culinary standpoint. It's even reinforced by things like PDO designations for specific meals that specify to great precision how to cook the food.In reality, traditional cuisine is based on the ingredients you have and your methods of preparation. The actual dishes have always been changing. No one before the 20th century wrote down much, they just cooked something like their mom did, with probably slightly different ingredients (what they had available), with changes influenced both by economics and culinary fashion. This approach of fixing dishes in place like some sort of religious fetish is just going to make italian chefs fall into irrelevance. And I'm not saying to abandon tradition. I'm saying to embrace the tradition of change. If this mindset existed in the 1700s, they'd refuse to put tomatoes on their flatbread and eat semolina pies fried in olive oil for the next three hundred years. Imported ingredients have always been a part of cuisine, and it's better to integrate them into dishes and methods of preparation, or Chinese cooking is going to eat your lunch ultimately.
>>22275346Note how this happened in Australia. What's the betting the guy is a wog who has never set foot in Italy?
>>22275360The irony being in actual Italy they have all those dishes called shit like Pasta Alla Mussolini's Bigga Di Ballsa that is served with goats milk in the village of Bapityboopy while 4 miles away the village of Boopitybappa insists it must be made with sheep's milk.
No idea where this retard is from because we do pineapple on pizza in Italy all the bloody time. >>22275376His name is Davide Tamburella. He's a millennial from Italy. I know he's a millennial because for an Italian man, Davide is the absolute most millennial name ever, like how Jayden/Jaden is the most zoomer name ever in the US. I know close to 826383 Davides. His refusal has more to do with his status as a millennial than an Italian.
>CAST IT ONTO THE PIZZA! TOP IT!
>>22275346Wow guess he just wants to spend the rest of his life podcasting or something. No doubt people would want to talk to you for the retarded ass clickbait headline alone. Ooo i talked with the only real ITALIAN who got fired for doing the FUNNY.
>>22275346basedpineapple on pizza tastes like shit
>>22275395Sounds like Davide’s nuts
Some dumbass and his wife opened a wood fired pizza place in my town. He refused to change anything on the pizzas, if there was a pizza with 5 ingredients on it, he refused to leave off one of the toppings for any reason. He claimed it "disrespected his vision and the recipies he curated over time". They closed within a year.
>>22275539Everyone in Australia, regardless of where they were born, is insane. Just look at Mel Gibson's father, won Jeopardy, became a crazy Second Vatican Council denying Antisemite, moved to Australia. Raised Mel in Australia where he became Mel Gibson.
>>22275395It's the ultimate Reddit Poster/Viral on Twitter response. Trying to go viral and get upboots and ultimately become a good guy meme and get hired to be a real Italian Chef at a nice restaurant instead of making pizza for drunks at 2 am.

>>22275346These people are retarded (no it’s not a euro specific thing see: texas chili) because every “traditional recipe” was invented in the 19th or 20th century by some chef who made a version of some peasant dish and peasants would have put whatever they had on hand in it, like a bouillabaisse. You think poor fishmongers HAD to make sure the exact same fish and shellfish went into their leftover fish stews every single time?
>>22275346I'd ask him to put kiwi on the pizza as well out of spite.>n..noooo tomoatoes don't count
>>22275346Why do Italians pin their culture to their poor man's foods? Every food they claim to have invented was cheaply made because they are a chronically poor people. Americans and other European countries improved their slop
