The Kevin Spencer show is 8 seasons long, and I have spent dozens of hours of my time watching him -- when I see cute art (and porn) of Kevin Spencer, I dont just see depictions of some guy, but of a "person" whom I am familiar with. I suspect a lot of shotacons/fujos have similar stories -- they like the show first, "fall in love" with the character after watching him go on a bunch of adventures, and develop the ability to find fanart of an ugly, weird character appealing. It helps that a lot of the fanart moefies him in such a way that makes him cuter, too.
