It leaves open opportunities to do basically anything with either boy while allowing the stakes of any dangerous encounters to be higher without jumping to power scaling since they are alone. Or nothing dangerous could happen and it could instead be a chance to slow burn some character and world building, either of which are good to me. I think B is too likely to lead to exposition dumping, which isn't ideal for the start of a story.
