Clanker, an onomatopoeiac descriptor based on the sounds a metal automaton would make, is less inherently derogitory than robot, which is derived from the Czech word for slave, robotnik. If robot isn't hate speech, then clanker isn't either, so long as it isn't said with hate. Especially on a site where words like drawfag are used affectionately.
