I'm conflicted on downer stuff like bullying, abuse, horror, and tragedy when it comes to shotas. Especially in standalone illustrations. I find it quite upsetting and it doesn't take much to totally ruin my mood. But it also triggers my desire to comfort and protect boy. In actual stories this usually outweighs the bad feelings and I often end up liking tragic (within reason) stories and shos a lot. But in pics with no further story beyond the image itself the balance is the opposite. It can sometimes even feel gratuitous and ill intentioned. Nemui's Soleil is about my limit for that sort of thing. Which just goes to show how confused my feelings are, since he's also my favorite of his boys. Or maybe it's precisely because he's right at the threshold of maximum protect boy before it gets to be too much.
