To the original point about Genshin, I would say they are avoiding overt shota pandering. There are some, but not all, eastern companies that avoid or minimize depictions of shotas (and lolis) in an effort to pander to what they believe are western sensibilities. Capcom removing them from DD2 last minute is an obvious example. And that's a Japanese company, where there are obviously plenty of other companies that have no problem with it. China's situation is very different when it comes to homo. But there would be no reason for them to natively take issue with shotas. That's not even a real thing in the west outside of a vocal minority. And they have things like the Legend of Hei and that other gacha with the shota healer showing that there is no CCP policy against shotas. The talk about western terminology is odd. The Chinese have had their own version of the bishounen aesthetic, likely with its own name in Chinese, since antiquity. The pretty boys in Chinese media are based on that aesthetic, not western neo-puritans inappropriately calling normal looking boys in their early teens "twinks" and "femboys" in an effort to pretend that attraction towards them is an attraction towards femininity rather than youth. The Chinese know some westerners freak out if they see children and some of them choose to accommodate that. But they didn't need to learn about pretty boys from a culture that has been suppressing them for centuries.
