Likewise, relatively novel drama (say, for example, the presence of Goldie or Sue in her own life) are sources of anxiety. They are not merely bumps on the road but potentially apocalyptic threats to the relationship itself. This might address why some relatively minor issues between characters get blown out of proportion and treated like high drama. So to Taeshi, the signs of a truly healthy relationship are the ability to resolve novel problems asap and high stability. Ergo, the only real friction between a couple (i.e. a source of drama) must happen before they get together--an act which, if done properly, solves all of their problems. Thus couples fall into two categories: "Interesting and dramatic" will-they-won't-theys and "wholesome" established puddles of bland unsalted oatmeal substitute made from wood shavings. Paisy is the most obvious example of the latter, but also consider how they only real source of contention between Jessica and Madison--the former's lingering crush on Lucy and the latter's insecurity--evaporated when Madison up and decided to become a Lucy stan. Very convenient! And terminally boring. But it fits the model either way.
